STAR WARS: REPUBLIC COMMANDO!!!!!!!!!
Just got the demo disc the other day and played it.

It ROCKED MY FREAKIN' SOCKS OFF.

It's like Halo set in the Star Wars universe, with just a dash of Rainbow Six thrown in for good measure.

The graphics are slick, the HUD is awesome, and they've nailed all the little details. I blasted a Battle Droid that was very close to me, and oil splattered all over my visor. Then an electronic "wiper" swept over it and cleaned it off. That is HOT.

This game just shot to the top of my Most Wanted list.

The demo disc that comes with the February issue of Official Xbox Magazine, and it's also on the KOTOR II disc.

The game comes out on March 3, I believe.

Oh, and did i mention it will have ONLINE MULTIPLAYER?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

5. Will it have offline multiplayer (skirmish)?
I know this is pathetic, but I still have a dial-up connection to the internet(s). I have been unable to play multiplayer ever since my undergraduate days with the apartment LAN fragging (how I miss that).

Anymore I have been avoiding games touted as multiplayer because it seems that the developers skimp on the SP side with those games.

7. I'm assuming you're talking about PC, not Xbox

MULTIPLAYER SUPPORT Local Area Network Play: Supports up to 16 players via Local Area Network.

Internet Play: Supports up to 16 players via 56Kps or faster connection to the Internet.

Internet Hosting: Broadband connection required.

Here's a link to the gigantic snazzy Lucasarts Official Site:

http://lucasarts.com/games/swrepubliccommando/hud.html

EDIT: You can also download the demo at the Lucasarts site. I would think that would be the safest place to get it from, but I'm a silly console guy, so what would I know? :)

6. The Demo May Have Installed Spyware on my Machine!
I'm using MS's beta AntiSpyware program--which, BTW, works great and finds stuff the other sweepers don't--and it identified some spyware in the program's files. I can't look into this more closely this morning, but I'll investigate later and post an update.

Meanwhile, I would recommend that you not install the demo.

8. Spyware was installed on my machine and it appears linked to RC install
As I said, I'm running Microsoft's beta AntiSpyware, which scans every night. It found spyware installed in one of the subdirectories for Republic Commando. I had the AntiSpyware program delete the file and the demo still seems to work fine, which means that the file was not part of the RC program. I am not 100% certain that it was installed with RC, but I wouldn't take any chances.
