What in the heck is a "vortex"?
Seriously, what is it? A spot of phantom energy of some sort coming from the bowels of the earth? A doorway into and out of the dimension for "spirits"? A fantasy designed by woos to explain weird experiences?

Oh, and how can it be measured?

Just curious.

For fun and giggles I watch the ghost shows every now and then. You know, "Ghost Hunters", "Ghost Adventures", "Haunted Collector". All of those ghostie shows crack me up. It seems like they throw around this word "vortex" willy nilly.

4. Soooo....
It's a "whirlpool of force" within which I will appear shorter or taller than the person I am facing. Or myself. :D

Cool.

Where do the spirits come in? Are they tall and short at the same time too?

I will definitely put that place on my bucket list!

Thanks, laconicsax! That made me laugh.

Sorry, it's the weekend and I'm goofy from working most of it.

I watch those shows for fun sometimes, too. Maybe they think "vortex" sounds more sciencey than some of their other buzz words, like "energy field" or "presence."

On one show, a woman claimed "a ghost pushed me down the stairs." But judging from the security camera footage, the dumbass just fell down the stairs.

Speaking of that - if you want to waste time and ROFL, I highly recommend the "Caught On Camera" shows. Saw one last week where a really big guy tried to rob a convenience store in New York with a toy gun. The clerk was a 27-yr-old Muslim woman, wearing her hijab, standing 4-foot-6 and weighing less than 100 pounds - the would-be robber made at least 2 of her. She chased him out of the store with an axe.

Then there was the wedding in Houma, Louisiana. Holy Jebus, what a classic!

Groom passes out drunk. Guest gets worried about him and calls 911. EMTs show up with cops, as usual. Hubby wakes up, sees cops, goes berserk and gets in their faces. Extremely drunk brother-in-law/best man shows solidarity by punching a cop. Hubby and best man get Maced, probably ruining the formal wife-beater shirts they are wearing for the Big Day.

Cops call for backup and a K-9 unit arrives. So now, in the middle of all the other hilarity, you have a bride in white wedding dress/veil/biker tattoos, running around screaming her head off among the police dogs, Mace-mist and drunken wedding guests attacking the cops. New hubby, best man and several members of the wedding party get hauled off to jail. Truly a Special Day To Remember!

5. I think it's a spinning fluid.
Like whirlpool of water that occurs above the tub drain. Apparently, new agers think it has something to do with psychic energery or some other imaginary phenomenon.
