Anyone here see the big GD thread on the horror of capitallism?
It's kind of like woo, but without the warm fuzzies. I find myself imagining a throng of angry herbalists and homeopaths stridently calling for all Western-med doctors to be shot and pharmaceutical factories to be burned down so that a world of holistic health for all of the people can rise upon the ashes.

1. The OP didn't waste any time saying that you are either with us
Or you're with the terrorists.

Why does the extreme left have to act so much like the extreme right?

2. Clearly, you love wearing the shackles placed on you by your oppressors.
Perhaps someday you'll tire of licking your master's boots and join the inevitable revolution! :)

(It's amazing how very little exaggeration of the real thing in required to create a parody.)

3. because they're extreme
they're ideologues, and ideologues don't give a shit about anyone who doesn't mimic their beliefs. Political True Believers.

5. I don't know if it was that thread
or another, but I had the gall to post a thread that perhaps a mixed economy more along the lines of western Europe might function best for all.

I'd forgotten how vicious ignorant youth can be when someone points out a few of the annoying economic facts to them.

It took me back to my days in the SDS when I opined that perhaps despising middle America wasn't the best way to win them over, come the revolution.

7. "Come the revolution", indeed.
It's amazing how so many of these people consider it an article of faith that any day now the "workers" are going to "rise up" and revolt against their "capitalist oppressors".

There's a lot people should be angry about (like torture, the current economy and how it got that way), but the level of anger is nowhere near, not even close, to revolutionary fervor. The people who have shown the most anger of late -- the teabaggers -- would, if they ever did openly revolt, be trying to install a right-wing authoritarian, not the next Lenin.

10. Uh, he was a right wing authoritarian
who converted an aristocratic oligarchy headed by the Czar into a Party oligarchy headed by himself.

Youthful revolutionaries don't realize that, either.

12. Lenin was right wing in what sense?
I was thinking of the two-axis system of mapping political alignment, where one axis is economic views (communist/socialist on the left, capitalist on the right) and the other axis is political freedom, with libertarian at one end (up? down?) and authoritarian at the other end.

6. Or even the horror of capitalism.
Why, oh why, won't Firefox spell check single-line text fields (like the subject field, for example) the same way it spell checks multi-line text areas?

8. Maybe it's the British spelling?
You know? Like one of those traveler/traveller deals?

9. There's a simple tweak for that
  1. Type about:config in the address bar
  2. Click 'I'll be careful, I promise'
  3. In the filter field, type layout.spellcheckDefault
  4. Double-click the entry
  5. Enter 2 in the resulting pop-up window
  6. Click 'OK'
  7. Restart Firefox

Firefox should now spell check all text fields, even single line ones.

11. Thanks. :)
I'd forgotten all about the many mysterious and obscure settings hiding behind about:config. The last thing I'd used it for was activating color profiles.
