"We're praying that God blesses him with a job...."
said my Mother in law to my husband this past weekend.

See, her husband is a con-artist. He's in his late 70's and the only reason that he HAS to look for work while being in his late 70's is because he is a jerk that quit his job FOUR YEARS AWAY FROM FULL PENSION -- a job he'd had for THIRTY YEARS --- because he felt they were "disrepectful to his education". FOUR YEARS AWAY FROM FULL PENSION. shit.

ANyway. That was 11 years ago. Since then, he's gone from job to job, dragged my mother in law and her (now dead) mom to the middle of nowhere, put them nearly into bankrupcy at least 3 times, over $100,000 in debt.....

A few years ago he got a job that was not in his preferred field (whose is??) and it paid the bills and allowed them to (foolishly, IMO) buy a house and live closer to family.

Well, he doesn't like that job. SO he's going to quit that job at the beginning of the summer.

Does he have another job lined up? No

How long did it take him to get his current job? Two years of supposedly sending out 100+ resumes PER WEEK.

My thoughts on THAT are :
1) are there enough companies in the US for someone to send out 100+ resumes per week?
2) should one not maybe have a professional look at their resume if they are sending out 100+ resumes PER WEEK and not getting ONE. SINGLE. CALL. BACK?????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Anyway.

So MIL tells hubby that Shiftless is quitting his job at the beginning of the summer. Hubby asks if Shiftless has anything lined up---oh no, she says "We're praying that God blesses him with a job..."

Hubby says "Um, I think God HAS blessed him with a job. He has one now, doesn't he?"

MIL got flustered. Well, they want God to bless him with ANOTHER job. A BETTER job. A job that will pay a 75 year old man with borderline personality disorder (my opinion) and the shittiest attitude on the planet (peer-reviewed study) at least $50,000 a year for 40 hours a week with no overtime, no nights, no weekends, full health insurance, a company car, and someone to rub his feet every other thursday.
----

I guess I felt like posting this here because I get sick of this shit. "God will bless us with ----" or "god HAS blessed us with....".

I got a job, but I dont' think that God personally gave a shit whether I got a job or not. I got the job through my education and skills and references.

If God doesn't care enough to save millions from slaughter, hunger, torture, and death, I doubt he'd put all of his supreme effort into, you know, making sure Shiftless ConMan gets a fucking job he's unqualified for.

-=--

But if (by the grace of god ha ha ha) he does get a job, GOD will be the one to credit.

If he does NOT get a job---GOd will not be to blame. Uncaring assholes in HR who have no idea how PERFECT and just PERFECT Shiftless is. NO IDEA HOW FUCKING SUPREME HE IS.

---
So Shiftless doesn't have a job and won't allow MIL to work full time. But they have two half-assed home-based businesses (ha)

1) THey sell "Medical Insurance Supplements" supposedly. It's one of those cards you see advertised on TeeVee, where for $200 a year you can save $.08 on a bottle of aspirin. The company is a complete con, has been banned in multiple states by different Insurance whatevers in the state because it is a fraud, but they don't care. THey've spend about $4,000 on a business and they've gotten THREE CUSTOMERS IN TWO YEARS---see, he's one, she's another, and the brother is the third.

2) They sell Herbal Supplements to unwilling friends and family. I've lied and told them I'm allergic to everything from Thorny Toot Root to Potassium just to get them to shut up about taking Organic Oregano Oil to ward off crabs and vaginal dryness, or whatever.

Again, they spend SHITLOADS of money on product they can't sell, and bless GOD when they do make a sell....but never blame him when they have to throw out $2,000 of expired Rooty Tooty Root Thistle Milky Root Extract because no one wanted to buy their shit.

---

Sorry. Venting......

1. Amazing story. Thanks.
Just when I start thinking I'm the dumbest person on the planet, something like this comes along.

I'm still wondering about this part:

He's in his late 70's and the only reason that he HAS to look for work while being in his late 70's is because he is a jerk that quit his job FOUR YEARS AWAY FROM FULL PENSION -- a job he'd had for THIRTY YEARS --- because he felt they were "disrepectful to his education".

Truly amazing. Got to be a landmark in stupidity.

I guess I felt like posting this here because I get sick of this shit. "God will bless us with ----" or "god HAS blessed us with....".

I get tired of this shit too. Especially since I made the mistake of emailing my Mom's friend in the South. Now I get every piece of Jesus-splurge and angel-spam and right-wing horseshit currently making the email rounds.

If I decide to waste the time, I might start answering them and correcting some of their more obvious lies. But generally, if the Subject line contains the words "Prayer," "angel," or "Jesus," I delete it immediately.

Oh, or "DO NOT DELETE!!!!" Those also get dumped right away. They're almost always Prayer Circle-Jerks.

2. "DO NOT DELETE"
is my sign that it's going RIGHT into my trash can.

We used to get all kinds of urban-legend bullshit from my inlaws, and Shiftless would send the once-a-month Three Paragraphs Of Hate Bigoted If You Don't Hate Illegals You Hate America email...I told him in no uncertain terms that I did not appreciate that kind of racist, bigoted, hateful bullshit in my email and he stopped sending those.

I got one of the "urban legend" emails from them about a woman who was raped at a gas station RIGHT DOWN THE ROAD.....I checked snopes, found it to be a hoax, and replied to everyone they had emailed it to that it was, infact, a lie, and that they should check snopes before they send such douchebaggery to other people's emails.

My MIL respoded "Well, it never hurts to remind people to be more careful"

I responded that I was very frightened by people who only used common sense because a fake-news email told them to.

On Memorial day weekend we got the "If you are reading this, Thank A soldier" glurge about how it's not the Journalist who gives us freedom of speech, it's the soldier. It's not the church that gives us freedom of religion, it's the soldier, etc etc.

I responded back "Uh, no, actually, it's not the solider that GIVES us these rights, it's the CONSTITUTION"

3. Hmmm...

I've never seen a soldier representing a plaintiff in a civil rights case, but I guess there's a first time for everything.

If you were not injured by a defective product while reading this, thank a lawyer.
