The Illuminati are doing a terrible job
Ok, imagine this: There's a massive, international conspiracy involving world leaders, financial institutions, spanning millennia, and EVERYONE IN THE FREAKING WORLD KNOWS ABOUT THEIR SUPPOSED EXISTENCE.

If there's a secret organization running everything, they'd be pretty bad at their job if everyone knew their name, let alone how they function.

1. My theory on Area 51:
It's a distraction. How could they possibly keep secrets there if everybody associates the place with government secrecy? Especially with the advent of satellites, they need a place where they can send curious eyes.

If there was a global conspiracy, the Illuminati would be the story they used to keep one-world tinfoilers distracted. Hey, they may be crazy, but they ask questions, and that's BAAAAD.

4. It's the James Bond syndrome!
Much as I love the movies, I used to wonder how Bond functioned as a secret agent when he was on a first-name basis with every hotel desk clerk, hotel maid, bartender, barber, tailor, parking attendant, and personal sexual therapist in the entire world.

I guess he functioned just like the Illuminati.

But you're right. Screw the Illuminati. I'm joining the Masons. If I'm going to overthrow the world, it'll be more fun doing it while wearing a fez and riding a mini-bike.
