Edited on Tue May-13-08 08:10 AM by Inchworm
Hehe, I posted this in the lounge. I forgot to share over here. Watch the squirrels steal sunflower seeds and plant in my flower bed :P

1. That was really cute. Even if they are pesky, I love squirrels.
When I lived in NC, the house I rented had a yard that was squirrel heaven. There were huge, old oaks and other trees that housed many squirrels. They did a very interesting job of rearranging the bulbs that had been planted by the owners. There were hyacinth, narcissus, and crocus flowers coming up all over the yard.

2. Nothing is funnier
then something advertised as squirrel proof. We have a bunch of them and they and the birds get along famously. Its the damned neighbors cats which disturb our peace and symmetry.

5. The bird (parrot?) is a great touch
:hi: one of the most comic things is to watch the mockingbirds go on attack mode when a wayward squirrel gets too close to a nest. I've seen them chase them for a couple hundred feet or better. Take no prisoners!

6. Mockingbirds are a mess
I like watching them defend too.

I dont know which you thought was a parrot. All those birds are wild. There was an indigo bunting that was all blue, a blue jay walking proud with a pointy head, a mourning dove chilling, a chipping sparrow with a copper top, and a goldfinch shining yellow.

That's all I remember atm. The Carolina Chickadees are camera shy :D

7. My Lord, that bunting was remarkable
I may have seen one or two up north in my youth, but I do not recall anything that colorful so it might have been a bluebird or something. You've got quite the array over your way. I'm not jealous - I've got grackles :) Oh, and a few others!

Thanks for sharing that :hi:

9. The painted bunting is mistaken for tropical escapes often
They are very shy and usually aren't seen at feeders. We had a few that would eat at the crack of dawn to avoid the other birds. Here's a pic
