Plants for winter window boxes -
I've two window boxes that usually go empty and unsightly come the really cold weather - am currently in the panhandle of WV - and would really like to put something in them that will last. Am thinking of ivies (small-leaf) and creeping jenny but would be most appreciative of any other suggestions. Window boxes are located in full-time shade.

1. Do you know what hardiness zone you are in?
I must confess I don't know much about growing conditions outside of the Midwest.

3. Ice Pansies will last quite awhile
I can't think of anything right off hand that will last through a hard freeze. The pansies will take quite a bit of cold though. So will flowering Kale, I've seen that at a few of the nurseries this fall. Have you thought of decorating them for the seasons? Maybe a couple potted mums, gourds or miniature pumpkins for fall, and evergreen boughs and holly for Christmas? Maybe someone else will come up with some other ideas?

4. Excellent ideas!
Thank you so much! I'll check into the pansies - and I've seen the flowering Kale around here - that's an excellent idea! Thanks Blue Gardener!
