Kevsand's mom is in pretty serious shape. Any and all prayers and vibes needed.

She had cancer surgery last week and the surgeon told the family then that the surgery was a matter of pain relief and an attempt to prolong her life--without it he thought she would have died within a few days.

Her condition post surgery had been improving slowly, with various tubes and drains being taken out--up to today, anyhow. He got a call from his sister this afternoon telling him that the docs had been forced to put a bunch of her tubes back in, and that they are worried about not only her liver but also her entire urinary system.

Her name is Rose and she LOVES music. She was (at one time) a union musician, along with being THE church organist at their Baptist church for decades. She is an avid reader and loves to collect cookbooks.

I honestly can't say if I think focusing on her healing is the right thing to do--or if I think she is best served by wishes for peace and a freedom from pain. She has suffered a lot already, but she did tell Kev last week that she was not ready to give up yet. Either way, she needs whatever can be sent her way.

Any energy or prayers you can spare for her will be much appreciated.

Kev is probably driving down there tonight, and depending on what the docs have to say in the morning, I may drive down tomorrow. I'm taking our daughter to my Mom's house tonight, just in case I need to dash out of here in a hurry.

I'll be in an out of here for a bit longer.

11. An encouraging update on Rose!

Kevsand called a few minutes ago and his mom seems to be doing better. The morning blood work shows an improved liver function and her kidney function appears to be improving as well. Most important, she is actually awake and saying this morning that she feels better! The docs are talking about transferring her back to a hospital on the Illinois side of the river (where she started out) possibly later today or early tomorrow. (THAT single discussion makes me feel a lot more optimistic because if they thought she was in any immediate danger NO WAY would they be looking at transferring her.)

Kev's other sister is due to arrive later today, and that is also a very good thing because she is a very practical woman who is capable of relaying information clearly and effectively. Maybe now we'll be able to know what is happening without needing to be there in person.


I am not going to need to drive down to St Louis today, and Kev is, actually thinking he may come back home tonight or early tomorrow.

Thank you, everyone for your help for Rose. I have NO doubt that your energy and caring has helped her a great deal.
