Anyone here have experience with Feldenkrais?
I've developed pain in left hip and left knee and believe it's a body mechanics issue. I don't want pain killers. I want to learn how to move my body correctly and perhaps stretch out tight muscles that may be causing the problem.

Feldenkrais might be a good way to handle this, I thought. Anyone else have ideas of appropriate type of care?

1. talked to my chiro about it
I had something along the lines of what you describe happen with me about 12 years ago and I talked to my chiropracter about it. He was enthusiastic about Feldenkrais and wanted me to try it.

Trouble was, back at that time the only practitioners were in NYC and I wasn't up for traveling in to the city on a regular basis.

Now--at least here in NJ--there are plenty of practioners.

Here's a link to see if there are any around you.

2. Thanks for the link
Good to know a chiropractor endorsed it so highly.
As for yourself, how did you resolve the problem?

3. stretching!
It solved so many problems for me: movement, various aches and pains, ability to work out in the garden strenuously without fear of injury.

My biomechanics were being thrown off because of muscles in my back being tight due to stress (at that time). I got rid of the stress source and did the stretching and the problem straightened itself out.

4. I've never had a treatment..
but have always been impressed with the concept. Another method which is adapted from Feldenkrais is "Tragger". It gets a bit into energetics too, I think.

I like Cher's solution too. I really need to develop the discipline to do stretches.
Flexibility keeps us much younger (body and mind).
