The BlueIris Semi-Nightly Poetry Break, 5/9/09
"Memory"

I have been trees
and will be again
green cells
in the hearts of grass
or the snake's quick slide.
That I am swept
into a person
surprises the presences
sleeping in me,
who have been once
the hawk,
the rabbit,
and the glide.

1. Love it
Except maybe the snake.....

:silly:

I like this poem because it is "visual" poem. If I can picture it, I *get* it.

And within me, is a lot of memory.

2. Yes, I like it for the same reason that Cele does.
:)

3. Remember this song
"I'd rather be a sparrow than a snail
Yes I would. If I only could. I surely would."

I feel that we have all been sparrows, and we have all been snails. And so it goes.

Thank you Simon and Garfunkel.

Related: I am so visual that it has.....um.......a few problems. I have to be totally prepared to block my vision in certain parts of movies. It has to do with protection.

But give me something with too much word nuance, and then the "Huh?" thing starts coming on strong.

4. I'm the same way. I'm much more visual as well.
I can't remember names very well, but I almost never forget a face. Cele, you seem more like a left-brain focused person; is this true? I definitely am. Would that make sense? I'd think that it would be more word-focused than image-focused, but that's definitely not the case for me.

I'm the same way in movies. I ask my husband to let me know when the scene is over. When rape scenes are involved, I even have to completely leave the room. :(

Yes, I remember that song. I always liked it too! :)

5. I can't remember names
But I am pretty good at directions. I love Google Earth. I think I am all about MAPS!! (Just don't add any more dimensions to that.) A map is a good symbol for where we are. Maps are the symbols that I "get" more. I had a great time trying to figure out where I went in Kyoto from Google Earth, so I could put my pictures in just the right spot! I'd rather do that than meet someone new and have to talk to them.

My problem with some poems is that they can't be taken in by my eye easily. I am so much of a "big picture" person that I translate things that way. I can read a book, but I prefer books with illustrations. I would much rather read a photojournal of travels than a journal. It is easier on my brain, and I just get more out of it.

Some of this helps me notice things out in the landscape. I've never really been into plants or gardens or anything, but I can identify a surprising number of different plant species. I think I might start bird watching. That activity sort of fits my brain. Are you this way with the landscape?

You are a programmer, and I've done a bit of that and was pretty good at it. I always did best with math in school.

Is it a little hard for you to meditate? It is for me. My monkey mind is always off visualizing something else. That's why I know all about devices, like the orgone things. I need all the help I can get. Sometimes I can get into a somewhat altered state while my left brain remains in full control. I can't shut it down. On the plus side, I would make a really bad victim of mind control. LOL.

This is a very wordy post for someone not much into words.
