I have been very, very sick.
For some reason it started with my moontime. I have had bonechills and extremely high fever. I also forgot to eat one day (fever-sleep); and incurred a hypoglycemic reaction.

Yea, I probably should have taken myself to the emergency room; but I'm a stubborn Leo.

I feel better at the moment, but only marginally. I would appreciate any Reiki or good vibes you would care to send my way. My body is beyond exhausted.

It does not seem to be anything contageous..we are four days and counting and no one else in the house has even a warm forhead.

Thank you for your time, friends.

1. lildreamer, I hope that you'll reconsider seeing a doctor as soon as possible.
Edited on Fri May-08-09 10:49 PM by I Have A Dream
A high fever is not something that you want to ignore. Please don't take a chance with this. :(

In the meantime, I'm sending light your way.:hug::hug:

I hope to hear back from you soon saying that you went to the doctor's and that you're starting to feel better.

AND I agree that if you still have a fever, please go to Dr. to have it checked as well. My daughter tried to tough a fever out and it turned out that she had an infection that was very serious - because she waited...
I hope you feel better soon.:hi:

So sorry. I, too, feel that you should get medical care.

Please get some Pedialyte (Walgreen's) to keep from getting dehydrated. It is really a must for fever.

8. I second those saying "doctor...now." Fever around the time of your period
is really not good, especially because it can indicate toxic shock syndrome. I say you should go to the ER even if it means dealing with the bill.

10. Healing energy to you LD
Try to take a bath everyday with some tea tree oil in it.

Don't forget to get fluids in, eat some vegetable soup, broths, and soft boiled eggs and toast (recuperating meals) and regain some strength and keep your sugars level. Fevers or infections usually raise your blood sugar but the higher temps make your body work harder, requiring more fuel and your brain needs the glucose. See a doctor soon, there can be a number of reasons why you are running fevers. I would call your doctor and avoid the ER. The hospitals are not admitting anyone with flu but there is a higher chance of you being exposed to it in the ED. If you don't have a regular Dr., you might not have a choice. But if there is a clinic or urgent care, go -- they can take a chest xray, blood cultures, urine test, throat swab, etc. to find the source of infection and give you a script for antibiotics.

I hope you have a family member nursing you along.

12. Update: I think it's food poisioning.
Shawn brought me something from Arbys as a treat Tuesday evening since I was just starting my period and didn't feel well.I have not been able to really eat anything since.
Today I was tired of the nausea but my body was not actually forcing me to vomit so I did it myself. That cured the fever/chills problem; but then anything I put in my stomach made me nauseaus..even water. Shawn went and got me anti-nausea syrup so that I can get some liquids into my system; but now I'm afraid that's going to start the whole fever/chills thing again.

I know i know i know..I have not been to the doctor yet. I kept hoping I would feel better. If I am not better by the time Shawn gets home from work I will take myself to the emergency room. Yes, I was worried about the money. We worked really hard to up our credit last year and I really can't afford to decimate it like this..but it can't be helped.

13. whew, glad to see you answer
Even though everyone in this thread wants you to go to the doctor, we can't force you. But please at least get Pedialyte. You are going to get dehydrated.

I have no idea if you have food poisoning or not. I know I had it, and it didn't take quite this long to get over it. There are the bad food poisoning bugs, and then, there are the really AWFUL ones--and you definitely really need medical attention for those.

How long between eating the Arby's and getting sick?

14. Several hours; I think..
The problem is that I ate it and then went to sleep. So my body processed it all; and by the time I woke up and started getting chills/feverish/slightly nauseuous; there wasn't anything left in my stomach (to get rid of; if you know what I mean).

There are four other people in this house and none of them are sick.

15. Sending you some healing energy, but...
I also hope you will see a doctor. I had really bad food poisoning once, and almost died from it. I don't mean to scare you, and I'm sure you know this, but fever combined with dehydration is not good. I ended up being in the hospital for 10 days because I didn't go to the doctor right away when I first realized how ill I was (ex-hubby wouldn't take me to the doctor until he was afraid I was dying, but that's a whole 'nother can of worms). I hear you on the money thing, and I also detest going to the doctor, but this seems like a long time to be sick with food poisoning. I hope you are feeling better as I type this, but if not, please... see a doctor.

16. So far the fever/chill thing has not returned en force.
I seem to be slightly warm (have to wait to take temp in a few min.) but am not getting muscle shakes and etc. like before.

I have decided to go to the Urgent Care at 8 am if I do not have a really bad night with it. They are cheaper and very very close.

I am not throwing up; I do not have d-; I have some headache and right now my stomach just feels heavy; prob. due to the anti-nausea medication.

I am taking this opportunity to up my fluids.

Thanks for the advice..

23. UPDATE II: Went to the Urgent Care yesterday.
It's a friggin' UTI. I had no regular symptoms and have not had one in over ten years. Not really any clue where this could have come from, but that does not really matter now.

I got an IV drip for over an hour to re-hydrate me; and she gave me antibiotics and anti-nausea medication. Since I've taken antibiotics less than 12-15 times in my life; I think I should react well to them. I have stopped having fever as of this morning but am still ridiculously exhausted and weak. Trying some bread today.

Sorry to have been a drama queen once again, I was just scared. I appreciate all of your support and kindness. You all are truly the best souls.

Lots of love to you!

40. WOW !
I'm glad you saw a Dr., and are on the mend, but take heart...when I was in the midst of my childbearing years, every month like clockwork, I got a UTI after my period. So bad that I couldn't stand up straight without holding my stomach. Had chills and high fevers, but never stomach upsets with all that entails. I'm guessing you also DID have a touch of food poisoning on top of the UTI! Please follow the advice to eat yogurt after the anti-biotics, so you don't end up with a yeast infection on top of all your other problems!!! Get strong and keep us posted! JA

25. Glad you are on the mend, LilD. I guess we should all take this
as a take nothing for granted lesson. UTI's can be a vexxing problem, esp. when they don't give the telltale symptoms, and one may be prone to them. Take care of yourself and drink lots of cranberry juice, tho now you can pick up some gelcaps, which might be easier and might ensure you don't have recurrent problem with these. Have you been running yourself ragged?

Get well soon!
