Edited on Mon Mar-09-09 05:00 AM by OneGrassRoot
since you guys already "get it" without me having to explain it. :)

We were waiting for a few behind-the-scenes admin features before "blasting" it, and we're still waiting for a general search button, but besides that, we'll deal with anything as it arises, because there's no reason to hold back now.

If Wishadoo interests you yet you haven't visited because I said it wasn't quite ready, then, please, do come and visit.

I'll write a press release and a blog update and send a notice to existing members and everything else later this morning, but I wanted to share with you guys first that:

WISHADOO IS FINALLY READY!!!!!

It's ready!!!! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Thank you for sharing this with me.
:grouphug:

Do you think I should share in GD? It's such a brutal place most of the time that even something positive can be twisted so easily by those who choose to do so and make it their life mission to disrupt. Great source of information but, beyond that, I've really kept my distance of late.

2. I just learned a few things.....IE versus Firefox.....
It always strikes me as so odd how something will display just fine in Firefox (which I primarily use) but not IE.

The editing time has passed, so I can't fix my original post.

Plus, did you guys realize that, unless you're logged on to DU, you can't see signatures? I didn't know that.

Anyway, thanks NJCher for bringing this to my attention! :)

Here's a link to the site: www.wishadoo.net

19. Don't forget that the browsers also have different versions that might
not support some of your design. People are notorious for not updating the browser that they accessed when the bought their computer.

Here's a site that is invaluable if you are doing Web design. It has many tutorials, as well as reference charts with terrific info.

Note the reference for browsers for % of users using specific browsers by version. And don't forget Opera, Safari & Chrome.

www.w3schools.com

Best of luck with Wishadoo! :toast:

20. Thanks, southerncrone!
That starts to get wayyyy over my head...lol...though I have learned a lot from that w3schools website. It's awesome.

One of our own Wishadoo wishes is to get a programmer and developer on board to help, as so many things are going to be required as this grows.

One step at a time. :)

3. Right on!
Heading there right now.
I totally share your trepidation about GD but perhaps it is all in how you reveal Wishadoo. I found this particularly moving in your OP announcing the site...

"In a nutshell, Wishadoo is the Craigslist of Compassion. It's where you can share your heartfelt, lifelong wishes that seem out of reach, to critical daily needs of survival, for yourself and others who may not be able to post for some reason...Everyone is asked to enter with an open heart, without expectation, but with positive intention."

"I think that for many people posting a wish may be easier than posting a need (though I may be wrong), at least at first. Regardless, I'm asking people to start somewhere. Put it out there for the Universe to help act upon it, and enable others to act as human angels, and for you to do the same for someone in ways you never could have imagined.

There is no judgment, no expectation. Simply respect, for oneself and others."

I think the majority of people have the spark of goodness in their hearts and don't know how to apply it and those are the people who'll see what Wishadoo is about. This reminds me of Obama who held the airy fairy tone of Hope through slings and arrows and provided an opening, Hopening :) (love your word) for change.

If you don't announce it there, it doesn't matter because Wishadoo will naturally attract those of like mind. It's now in the hands of the Universe. YAY!

4. Yay!!!!
Hey there, Kind of Blue.

I just created this group at the Community Forum in your honor and that of my partner, Rain. This is an area where many will gravitate. I've created this space at the forum, and maybe you will have ideas on how to develop it further? Inserting content of interest, existing resources, start discussions, even blog about this segment of the population and their needs/challenges?

Just throwing it out there for you to consider. :)

http://community.wishadoo.net/group/onebeat:hi:

Weeks ago I reserved a separate site just for this group, as I see it growing exponentially and is a powerful focus in creating this New Way and a better tomorrow for our children.

One step at a time..... :)

I will be gone for several hours but will check back here then. Thanks again for such tremendous support and enthusiasm. What a tremendous gift you are!!!!

7. OneGrassRoot, I'm weeping
because I never realized how deeply I've felt about this wish until I finally put it down at Wishadoo. I've never even allowed myself to envision it until now because it seems too big.
Thank you so much for this first step in expanding my Spirit around it  I know this is not the end.

12. You have me crying now....
I do know what you mean. There is something incredibly LIBERATING by putting it into words (or an image or whatever means of expression is relevant), and then putting it "out there."

I'm going to post my own Big Dream shortly. I know it will feel absolutely wonderful!

Thank you so much, and I'm happy your week started off in such a powerfully positive way.....

9. Quickie.....
I will come back later to read and give hugs after finishing a rush project, but I wanted to share another important aspect of Wishadoo with you guys.

When you join at the Community Forum, you get your own page (as you do with most social networking sites). Please do promote any of your passions, your business, your organizations....anything you'd like the world to know about...in that space, with links, etc.

Wishadoo is very much about connecting and promoting one another's dreams, so I wanted you to feel totally and completely comfortable doing so.

If there are groups you'd like to see created, discussion categories you'd like to see, or more categories and subcategories at the list feature of the Main Site, just send an email. No problem. I would be delighted to co-create this with you guys. Everyone else is really creating Wishadoo; we simply provided the foundation. :)

The list is also very much about connecting not only individuals, but businesses and organizations (including churches, schools) as well. Wishadoo is kind of the umbrella to really connect our communities -- person to person, business to business, school to school, organization to organization -- in a way as yet experienced in my lifetime.

More hugsssssss of gratitude to you all!!! :grouphug:

I must have missed that. Will check that out when I get home. Hmm....would talking about our Sound Therapy business be ok? We can't claim medical cures (state rules) but we can say that we can make you CDs for your listening pleasure--and link you to sites that tell more of the story.

17. It's the page where you uploaded a picture already. :)
Edited on Mon Mar-09-09 12:36 PM by OneGrassRoot
There's just a lot that can be done to take advantage of that page. :)

When you go to your "my page" at the forum, you can actually make use of that text box to insert many things: links to your website(s), photos of products/creations, etc., etc.

Here is one I briefly did for Betsie, our spokesperson. If she'd get her blog going, an RSS feed of her blog entries can be on her page, too.

http://community.wishadoo.net/profile/PureHeart

Since you've worked with websites before, I'm sure if you take just a little time you'll be able to insert a lot of things you'd like to share with people with regard to your Foundation. :)

I also inserted photos with hyperlinks on my own "my page" with other projects I'm working on (Wishables, Wishadoodles, and several books), as well as a link to my business website. :)

If I can help, just let me know!

21. Thank you, Idylle Moon Dancer!
Cool name. :)

I just went through the registration process again as a new user to see how it works since I last did so, with adjustments having been done in the interim.

What I experienced was that the registration worked in spite of the fact that an error shows. There was a link back to the home page, however.

Regardless, it seems buggy, so I'll certainly add that to the suggestions and feedback I'm gathering, and will report back to the person handling those aspects for us. I'll then keep my fingers crossed he'll address them in a timely fashion!

Thank you VERY much for your suggestion and reporting your experience.

I'm using my cyberweb name MagickMuffin

I have a question about our profile pics.

What size should have be?.?.?

I've noticed that they are automatically cropped, however, if I knew the correct size I could alter it to fix the size.

I look forward to being an active member. Great work on making a Wishadoo come true.

Namaste

You're very kind, and I appreciate it soooooo much! :)

If anyone here is old enough to remember commercials from the 70s, I've always envisioned Wishadoo being like the Breck commercial:

"...and she told two friends, and so on, and so on." :)

Thanks you helping to spread the word.

I was able to customize myspace so I can tolerate it, at least....most of those sites are wayyyyy too busy for me. But Facebook -- egads, I can't customize it at all and there's all this stuff feeding in and I don't know what the heck is going on!!!!

LOLOLOL

Someone else is SO gonna have to handle that. I feel like a cranky old lady when it comes to Facebook and myspace. Oh well............
