4. Oh -- in that case
I found her at the shelter. She grabbed my shirt through the bars of her cage as I was walking by and it was love at first purr. Her name is Matilda Moonbeam, and she's my sweet girl. The shelter listed her breed as Medium Hair, but I know probably has some Siamese because of the blue eyes. When I first brought her home, she was about 8 weeks old, and her hair was not long like it is now. She's small -- about 5 1/2 pounds, and fully grown. And her hair is so soft that you can barely feel it on your fingers.

8. What a little beauty!
Edited on Fri Jan-23-09 06:37 PM by Shallah Kali
She is certainly part siamese going by not just those beautiful blue eyes but by the points. Does she have any of the extra cattitude siamese are known for or the voice? Often siamese mixes have one or both even if they lack the coloring. My sister has a siamese mix who is a real brat. If you don't pet her just right out come the claws! If you scold her for getting on the cupboards or trying to get into a package of fresh chicken as you put away groceries she runs growling to bop the nearest other cat across the head!

Now if your little one has a short legged stocky long torsoed body she might actually be part or all ragdoll. Ragdolls look like longhaired Siamese but their bodies remind me of a dachshund as their legs are so much shorter in proportion to the longer legged Siamese and their body is longer. Most have the typical coloring of a seal point Siamese but some ragdolls have mittens or mixed colors. I love both breeds but greatly miss the Siamese talkativity in the Ragdolls. My meezers always let me know what they are thinking but my Ragdolls prefer to let their eyes speak for them.

My furkids, some of whom have since crossed over, excepting young Mr. Fuzzball who belongs to a sister

9. Not a lot of cattitude, just very, very sweet
She is long and short (long body/short legs) like you described a ragdoll, so perhaps she's part ragdoll. And she has this sweet little voice that just melts your heart.

It's funny. I had no intention of actually bringing home a little one that day, but she grabbed my shirt, and I couldn't say no -- almost as if she knew she was supposed to go home with me. Ans what a joyful little being she is!!!

She does like to jump in front of the others when it's time to eat, and she hasn't much patience for waiting to be petted or brushed, so in that way she has a little siamese attitude. She was also showing a bit of it in this photo -- totally annoyed because I woke her up from a nap. I could just hear her saying "Do you mind?"

10. Ragdolls have little voices when they do speak and silky think fur
The way you previously described Matilda's fur as so soft you can barely feel it reminds me of my Fred's fluff. We call him Mr. Wisp as he is so gentle he usually does not rub against us or the other kitties but brushes them with his cloud of fluffy fur. It is so fine I consider it a miracle he isn't constantly matted. He & the others just get the occasional snarl in the armpit, deep in the center of their fluffy ruff or in the pantaloons.

That is so sweet how your little one grabbed your shirt and heart :) She must have been waiting for you!

My last siamese Sonja is a shelter kitty that I found in a feedstore when picking up birdseed and eggs for my Nana. They had one of those kitty carts from the local humane society and there was this dejected little cat laying there with her head hanging her whole being saying "i have just lost the last person in the world who I loved and will ever love me". I started crying the minute I saw her. I then dragged my Mother, whom I live with, into the store to convince her that I *needed* to adopt her when we already had 5 or was it 6 cats then. It was a minor miracle that when we went to the shelter to apply they let us get her that day as normally they make people wait while they check up on them. It was nearly a month before she wouldn't run away if I looked straight at her and nearly two before she would let me pet her but now she is a happy kitty unafraid to help herself to our laps and even let strangers pet her occasionally :) She is best buddies with Angel and they are constantly napping with one another like a yin/yang symbol of seal point/silvery pointed siamese cats :)

11. Awww, I'm so glad you and Sonja found each other
There's nothing more sad than feeling unloved and unwanted. She sounds beautiful too. So does Fred -- and yes, Matilda Moonbeam does the same thing: just whisps you with her tail as she walks by.

12. She looks like a Himalayan Hybrid!!
I used to have one just like her, and paid big bucks from a breeder. She's absolutely lovely. You are both lucky to have found each other!!

6. I Love your new name!
:hi: and  I'm not sure if you picked it because of the delightful Kookaburra song, but I will always look at your name with fondness because of the song. Found some kids who had a lot of fun singing it at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ySNpd2AbR0o&feature=related.

We sing that song all the time around the house -- make a round out of it. It's just a fun, fun song.

BTW, thanks for the youtube -- I love it.
