I had a wierd dream

the salient details that I can remember:

it was sort of a college party that took place in a large
labyrinthine building not unlike a sort of nightmarish funhouse.
My guitar was "accidentally" stolen and or swapped for one of highly inferior quality.
The fish given to me by a now estranged semi-romantic friend,
died, came back to life, but was then lost after jumping from its bowl.
I was nearly crushed or suffocated as I descended a spiral staircase
carved from a pillar of salt, that then began to collapse.

1. Did it feel like a nightmare or just really weird?
Were you anxious during it?

2. I was indeed anxious during much of it

though I don't think I'd put it up there at nightmare intensity
overall it felt mostly weird and unpleasant

3. If it were mine, I'd see it as a picture of things going on in my life.
I've been going thru a period of partying (in consciousness), celebrating and perhaps losing touch with my wiser more reserved side. I haven't been doing this intentionally. It's just that events came on me and I sort of lost hold on myself a little bit and thereby lost my ability to speak and communicate in an intimate and quiet way (guitar, depends on what type of guitar; classical = quieter yet, acoustic = probably still intimate and quiet, electric guitar = high energy, etc.) and have substituted a less good or natural way. I've also lost the spiritual understanding of a former relationship after working on it so as to bring that spiritual feeling back. In some ways the whole thing is about "looking back" and taking on some old attitudes and habits of behavior in speaking, thinking, acting, etc. The "pillar of salt" sounds like a Biblical symbol, what Lot's wife became when she looked back before Sodom was destroyed.

That's more or less what it would mean for me. I would look for some experience I had the previous day where those attitudes and actions fit the dream's seeming message. Dreams are really like the "Daily News." This is what your experience last night was like (or two days ago, but on your mind last night maybe).

The fact that it wasn't like a real nightmare suggests that it's just personality and life changes going on in your life that you're becoming aware of at a deeper level, and these changes (at least at the moment or in the event that this dream is about) are not for the best.

One good point is that you were able to survive. And really a dream like this is also a sign that you're understanding or starting to understand what's happening in certain areas. It's a sign, in other wds, of potential growth or potential wisdom.

4. I think it's a Mercury-Retrograde dream.

Lots of "looking back" in your dream makes me think that it's a Mercury Retrograde dream.

Buildings represent your mind - "labyrinth funhouse college party" sounds like a stress dream. You're wandering through your mind, perhaps? That's a Mercury Retrograde thing.

The guitar is a medium for communication (also resonating with Mercury? In alchemy Mercury symbolizes Water and the Soul.) You may be afraid that your ability to communicate is being inhibited by your tools.

Mercury's about to go into retrograde in Aquarius... leading us to the fish that your ex gave you... your connection with your ex is alive, dead, alive, then unknown?

In alchemy, Salt symbolizes the Body, the Earth but "Dream Moods dictionary" (I quote it because it's search-engine optimized!) sez this about salt -
Salt

To see salt in your dream, represents added flavor and a new found flare in the experience of life. You may be experiencing and elevated sense of individual worthiness and increased zest and vigor in your life. Your efforts are paying off. Alternatively, salt also symbolizes dependability, truth, dedication and longevity.

Depending upon which meaning resonates with you, being crushed by a salt staircase you're descending (into the earth) could be a warning to yourself that you shouldn't trust what seems dependable. Are you in poor health? Ecological danger where you live? Or it could be anxiety about crumbling infrastructure.

5. well, lately I've had a hard time trusting anything at all

nothing seems dependable,
except perhaps my will to continue in this lifetime...

interesting what you say about the guitar
as I have felt limited by it lately
I wish to discover what I could do with a harp

"...alive, dead, alive, then unknown?"
that sums it up rather well actually
I want to sever clean and forget
I want to reconnect
synastric Venus square Pluto is rough I think

6. Harps are great
you have to hug them to play them, and they resonate your chest cavity.
Most of them anyway.

"synastric Venus square Pluto" is a bit over my head but I have an idea of what you're saying (thanks to this forum)

Hang in there, it's going to get better.

7. synastric Venus square Pluto

from what I've read and what I've felt,
it's a moth-to-the-flame sort of thing,
with the Venus person (me) being the "moth"
and the Pluto person being the "flame"

and now I have yet another reason for wanting a harp,
as I love it when I get chest cavity vibrations playing didgeridoo
