Saturn/Uranus and Prop 8
Via the ASAH forum:
(partial list)

A friend and I were discussing, and came to the conclusion that what we see is a "War on Love".
It also speaks of the pending fall of false religion (old guard) replaced with love and true spirituality. Mormonism is the only modern western religion I'm aware of which has a modern history of polygamy. The merits and pitfalls of polygamy can be debated, but in many instances, there have been abuses toward women. The Catholic church IS the definition of male dominated religion. This is more than male/female, of course. I assume the reader is familiar with dualistic energy.

It saddens me to see some focus on physical circumstances. Since astrology is not taught to anyone who doesn't specifically go searching for it, people cannot know that the forces they struggle with are invisible, and certainly have no skin color.

Reclaiming Our Revolutionary Roots
Saturn/Uranus' Hard Aspects Define Our History

The 2008 election is a turning point in a transformational journey. The key aspect in the Election Day chart, an exact opposition between Saturn, ruler of the presidency, and Uranus harbinger of revolutionary change, at 18º 57' Virgo/Pisces is emblematic of the tug of war between the old guard and an emerging new paradigm. A timeline of hard aspects in the Saturn/Uranus cycle, from Revolutionary times to the present, sheds light on our historic pursuit of geo-political autonomy and social justice, a quest in which the coming election opens the newest chapter.

Civil Rights Era: Volatile Civil Rights Movement of the mid-sixties (opposition exact 5 times 1965-67 in Pisces/Virgo--the flip of 2008). Lyndon Johnson signs the Civil Rights Act (Jul 2 1964) and Voting Rights Act (Aug 6 1965). Johnson, a Democrat, knowingly hands over the South to the Republicans.

A New Era

Throughout our history, several two-three year eras have occurred, corresponding to periods in which planetary aspects recur due to directional changes. In 2008, we are on the brink of another such era, still nameless and unknown. The Election Day opposition of Saturn and Uranus is the first in a series of four in Virgo/Pisces. A fifth and final opposition occurs at 0° of Libra/Aries, July of 2010.

The Saturn/Uranus cycle must be viewed within the context of the larger Pluto cycle. This election is already stirring the pot and bringing to the surface issues we must transcend by 2022. For the first time in history a woman and an African American are serious contenders for the presidency. Hillary's candidacy shines light on women's rights and Senator Obama's campaign is a catalyst for racial issues. Our history is witness to the fact that slavery and civil rights are recurrent Saturn/Uranus themes. His election could turn a page in the struggle for equality, among ALL minorities, and begin a great healing.

Revolution Through Evolution
The last time Saturn and Uranus were aligned in the sky as they are
now was in the middle of the 1960's. The infusion of revolutionary
energy into the collective awareness that occurred at that time is
now beginning to come full circle. The 1960's ignited an
evolutionary need to rebel against the authority of externally
defined truth and morality that had dominated individual conscience
for millennia.

If, as voters, we seek external changes that we are not willing to
make personally, I believe it will be difficult for evolution to
take hold in the larger world. The status quo, however we define
it, will likely prevail. We choose leaders who mirror where we are
as a group, so whoever is elected will follow our lead rather than
the other way around. The extent to which we are ready to embrace
change in our own lives is the extent to which the next President
will be empowered to enact change in a broader sense, regardless of
who wins the election.

This is not to say that we shouldn't engage in activism or work for
causes we believe in..such efforts may be an important part of
expressing integrity for many of us. But, again, if that external
activism is a substitute for inner rebellions and revolutions that need to
take place, we will feel a sense of void because we will still be
trying to create something from the outside in (old paradigm), rather
than from the inside out (new paradigm). The old way was to create
ourselves in the image of the world around us. The new way is to create
a world that reflects and values the unique image and
contribution of each of us, so we are now asked to embody the best version of
that individuality that we can.

The Stars This Week: "Change vs. Experience: Vote!" - November 3 - November 9, 2008
November 4: Saturn opposite Uranus
Change (Uranus) versus experience (Saturn) is the mantra of this aspect. Saturn represents how you are structuring your life, while independent Uranus challenges traditions and the status quo. Whether this aspect gives birth to a visionary authority or an outright rebellion is up to the individual and the mood of the collective. What is for sure, whether for a country or a person, the challenge is to build upon your experiences while also being open to change.

Nolle's NOVEMBER Astro-report.
I’ve already spent quite some time describing the historic meaning of this month’s Saturn-Uranus opposition; how it points to first a gradual prolonged (but occasionally erratic) collapse of the global financial system, followed by the creation of a successor system. Of course there’s more to this than just economics: there’s social unrest and a political restructuring involved as well. Having covered so much of this in my 2008 forecast, and working on the rest of the story for my 2009 edition, I won’t go into detail here; except to say that what looms ahead is a multi-year economic doldrums, with interludes of relief.
