Question about Obama's unnatural ability to remain relaxed.
Edited on Fri Oct-31-08 10:48 AM by sparosnare
I am hoping some here can give some insight because I find it simply amazing.

Rachel Maddow commented the other night that during her interview with Obama, she was struck by his demeanor - very laid back and comfortable; joking with the crew and staff about Halloween. As if he didn't have a care in the world.

I have noticed this in photos as well - there's a calmness to him and he genuinely looks as if he's enjoying himself.

Is it possible he isn't stressed by the rigors of the campaign and the enormity of what he's about to face? Or is he able to hide it well?

Thanks!

1. I think it reflects
his dedication to spirituality. He may meditate, most likely does, and has some kind of prayer practice. He is a stark contrast to some of the other candidates you see out there right now.

Ted Stevens is a study in egotistical narcissism, with not so much as a pause before launching into a victimized and vindictive stance. Someone with a moral fiber would at least give a nod to our judicial system, of which he plays a part. He clearly does no self reflection nor has any higher standard to hold himself to.

When you also consider the neck break pace, Obama's calmness must be a refreshing oasis to those who travel with him. We sure do need that steady hand as a nation.

as if he's already experienced so much - he knows who he is and where he's headed. :hi:

I agree - we need his steady had as a nation. The world needs it too.

2. could it be
Edited on Fri Oct-31-08 11:13 AM by Callie McAllie
because he was raised in Hawaii? I know I would be more relaxed if I lived there :-)

Or maybe because he was raised by his grandparents? Studies show that older parents are calmer and more patient than young parents.

4. He has an excellent temperament doesn't he.
I think he's very self realized and has had enough experiences in life to know what to do, on top of his deep belief in his dream. He's a natural and gifted public speaker and he knows what he's talking about so he can be genuine and down to earth.

5. I've noticed that. Intuitively, I find his energy to be very centered. But

I confess, I think he is good at hiding stress. There were a few times this past spring and summer when I felt that despite outward appearances, he was actually quite upset about the negativity directed at him during the primaries and the strain the situation was putting on everyone. (At least, that's my guess about why he seemed miserable in those moments, they could have been about other things.)

So I think he has an above-average pain threshold and the ability to cover his pain, if necessary. These are coping skills that will serve him well during his presidency.

6. I would say
ALL of the above. I do think he feels stress sometimes, but his was of dealing with it has a kind of action plan. He just naturally goes from a) what is stressing me? to b) what can I do to ameliorate the cause of the stress? So, the stress is really just part of the "flow." Flow is what he is about.... He deals with stress through action.

He has a GREAT WAY OF DEFUSING ATTACKS WITH HUMOR. Oh, my gosh, what a great characteristic. I have no idea if he just naturally thinks up lines like the "sharing toys in kindergarten" line, or if others in his campaign think of them.

8. his energy is very soothing to me
I agree that he's probably an old, old soul. I think he is very spiritual and understands that, win or lose, he's doing what he's meant to be doing. He doesn't need to win; we need him to win. He doesn't need to be president to feel better about himself. We need him to be president.

From an everyday perspective, he said something that really struck me, about the way he was raised. He said always knew he had a place in the world.

People doesn't understand how important that sense is...a sense of belonging wherever you are, because it's been put inside you. I think it relates to the extraordinary effort his mother put into him, getting up every morning at 4:30 am to go over his schoolwork with him, that sort of positive attention. As opposed to being plunked in front of the teevee and neglected.

9. It's very soothing to me, also and
inspiring. I can be apprehensive about negative static coming from the other side and if I watch him at a rally..I can forget about the negative energy.

I've seen him get a little ruffled but I'm guessing his Planets and Stars have given him a gift of calm demeanor

10. I think he is a Leo (a natural on the stage) and an extrovert. He thrives in the limelight.

Most people don't and it is rare to see somebody who does it so well. I think that is his "gift."

I remember about six years ago I was at a business breakfast in Chicago and sitting next to my boss while we waited for the speaker to take the podium. There was a man walking around from table to table shaking hands. My former boss said, "That's Barack Obama." I said "Who?" And then I observed him. He had his trenchcoat on his arm and he moved from person to person with ease just pressing the flesh. He has been campaigning for years basically and it is what he does.

14. I've been wondering
if Barack is going to miss campaigning?
He seems to get a real charge from doing the rope line
at speeches...and he really seems to love connecting with folks.

Maybe he'll hold public events from time to time...

I agree with the old soul idea...
He seems so very grounded...very solid within himself.
I find listening to him extremely calming and reassuring.

11. Neptune
I believe he is an old soul with a Tsquare to Neptune in the "Ninth house", it seems to indicate that his consciousness is somewhat embeddded in spirit.

Also, his Moon in Gemini is well-seated in the 4th house, that's good. I agree, he is super cool. Also, his Leo sun is very strongly placed right on the descendent, giving him superior confidence.

Just my 2 cents.

12. Rick, I know that you now consider Chiron to be important in a chart.
Have you noticed that he has a Grand Water Trine (between Chiron, Neptune and Venus -- very powerful in my opinion) with kite (Chiron opposite Pluto)? It was when I saw this that I truly believed in his abilities. He is here to help this country to heal; I hope that we'll let him. (Just my novice opinion.)

13. I, too, believe he is a very old soul.
It feels like he is a gift that the Universe has sent us in our time of need. I hate to use the word Savior, but that seems to fit him best. I know Christians may have trouble with him being labeled as such, but it's just the feeling I get from him. He is on a mission....a predestined mission. Perhaps that's why he seems so confident; this is all naturally the way it is supposed to be.

I also get the sense that he is very intuitive, perhaps psychic himself.
