Can I have some healing energy for Baby Cat?
Since I got home at 6 she's been in the box urinating (or trying to) at least 4 times. I'm waiting on a call from the vet now. Right now she is having fun with a previously lost catnip mouse, but I'm still worried. So can we get some healing energy please?

This is my cutie pie kitty:

1. I'm sending it right now, cff. (Baby Cat is beautiful.)
I hope that it's just something minor, but I'm glad that you're getting her checked out.

4. Thank you lildreamer
I've had lots of cats but never one with as many colors in her coat as Baby. I make sure I tell her several times a day how pretty she is.

5. Sending love and light to Baby Cat...
May she heal quickly. How old is she? The reason I'm asking is sometimes older female cats will have trouble urinating if they get really upset/scared from something. Happened to my 18 year old girl after we had had some repair folks working on the house. As soon as everything quieted down, she was fine.

6. She is only about 2 or so
She's usually pretty "brave" when it comes to noises. She hears a dog barking and goes running TOWARD the sound! "Oh, where's the doggie, I wanna see!" Same if someone knocks at the door. She thinks they're coming to see her.

Right now she's resting, so I hope that's a good sign. The doc hasn't called me back, but I think there may be another emergency, or several emergencies. In any case, I'm calling first thing at 7 to try and get her in there!

9. What kind of food are you feeding Baby?.?.?
I've heard that if they eat a lot of dry food sometimes have can develop crystals in their urine and it makes it hard for them to pee. Hopefully your Vet will be able to help Baby.

In the meantime sending light your way for lil Miss Baby.

10. Beautiful kitteh!
Great coloring. Sending good vibes to you and Baby--here's hoping it's only a urinary tract infection that can be wiped out with a few antibiotics. My familiar, Jasmine, used to get them all the time when we used clumping litter (too dusty). Now we have to use regular clay litter. She hasn't had a UTI since.

I had an urge to visualize with the color pink when I looked at that pic. Don't know if that means anything.

13. What a pretty face she has.
Sending her healing energy and I hope the vet calls back. At her age it probably will take only a course of treatment with medication to clear up what is going on with her.

15. Update
That one vet never called back, so I ended up taking her to one that was actually closer to where we live. I think I made a good choice. I took her in and all the techs were making a fuss over her, so I feel like she's going to get very good care. I am also going out of town tomorrow for the weekend, so I can feel safe knowing she is being taken care of. She will probably miss having a "fan club" when I bring her home on Monday!
Thanks for all the hugs and vibes. I think we caught it in time. :hi:

18. I don't think she's given them a sample yet.

At least she hadn't when I called this afternoon. I hope she does and they don't have to use a catheter on my poor little Baby. :(
The doctor said that kitty has a very small bladder, but that's all I know so far.

I agree, it's good for her to be in a place with smiling techs and receptionists.

On edit: there were a couple of "business cats" wandering around too. Both were tabby/calicos like Baby. Both seemed very happy and friendly.

19. Sending healing energies to sweet little Baby Cat. Hope
the vet is able to diagnose/treat her in short order and that she will be ready to come back home to her family when you get back home on Monday. She is a beautiful kitty--love her coloration. That copper colored belly sure is pretty.

20. Baby Cat is home after 5 days at the vet
They didnt' find anything, said it was possible that she passed some crystals, but there was no infection. I'm glad I took her though, b/c I would have been so upset and worried that something was wrong. Still I think a change in food is in order. The vet gave me a Science Diet sample, but I've not heard good things about them. I'm going to read the natural pet food thread to see if there is something better.

Thanks to all who sent good vibes!

21. I use the Science Diet natural brand.
But maybe the vet wanted you to use a special urinary formula?

22. Yes, that's what she gave me
I had 2 cats on the soft SD urinary formula about 15-20 years ago. They did fine on it, but Baby seems to like the hard food better.

25. the problem with kibbles
is that they make kitties more prone to crystals. That's probably one reason why the urinary tract formula is soft.

For everyone who's dogs and cats have any kind of chronic kidney, urinary or liver problems that need monitoring, there is a home urine test kit available that is pretty easy to use (except getting them to pee on a plate, lol). I tried it for Jake when he was sick in early September. It works out to $5 or so/test.

23. About Science Diet
I have a dog that was in full blown renal failure at 5 months of age. Before he came to me he had had DNA testing, an ultrasound of his kidneys, spent a week in doggie hospital with IVs and a catheter, and had seen multiple vets. His best prognosis was "wait and see." More than one vet recommended that he be euthanized.

I took him in and found a vet nearby that I liked and could work with - a vet that includes alternative and wholistic therapies including nutritional therapies, supplements, massage and accupuncture. His condition impoved gradually but did not stabilize until he was an adult dog.

My sweet boy will be 7 years old on his next birthday. We do bloodwork on him every 6 months to monitor his kidney function. For the past 5 years all of the test results have been well within normal range. My boy takes no medication and lives a normal active doggy life. The only health problems he has are allergies to fleas and some minor problems related to a congenitial deformity.

I attribute much of his good fortune to his diet - Science Diet. While we were trying to stabilize his condition we tried multiple diets - including home prepared meals - and the one he responded to best was the Science Diet. It is the only thing he eats - aside from treats of course. His treats? Apples, carrots, some veggies.

My experience is that different diets are appropriate for different dogs with different nutritional needs. While I preferred feeding home prepared human quality food that simply was not as effective for my dog and did not produce the same positive results as the Science Diet. YMMV.

I would urge you to work with your vet in determining what diet is most appropriate for your kitty. There are objective measures. And if kitty did in fact pass some crystals then there may be a need to feed a diet that has a higher or lower content of certain nutrients. For example, humans with kidney stones are sometimes told to increase their intake of citrus depending on the chemical composition of their stones.

Best to you and your kitty.

26. Thanks very much
She is doing much better this week. She's sassy and bossy and right now is mad at me b/c I didn't have anything she likes for dinner! How thoughtless can a mother be? ;)
I think one of the greatest gifts we have on earth is the animals. They really do creep into your heart. :hi:
