So-o, any plans on cooling Ike as we did with Gustav?
;)
From National Hurricane Center, "Discussion"
Paradoxically...Ike has a very small inner core...and the eye has a diameter of only about 8 to 10 n mi. The central pressure has been steadily falling...now down to about 944 mb...but the winds have not yet responded. The initial intensity remains 85 kt based on recent SFMR wind speed retrievals. The short-term intensity forecast is contingent upon how long the extremely small inner core survives. Since it could disintegrate at any time...and since Ike will be passing near or over a cold eddy in the central gulf during the next 24 hours...the hurricane
Could weaken. If...however...the tenacious inner core remains intact...and given the recent pressure falls...Ike could strengthen some as reflected in the official forecast. Beyond 24 hours...the underlying ocean heat content will increase along the forecast track...and Ike will remain within a weak wind shear environment...so more robust strengthening is forecast at 36-48
Hours. The new official intensity forecast is a little lower than the previous one through 24 hours but is similar thereafter...

The other models are in between...as is the official forecast....which is not appreciably changed from the previous advisory since the model consensus has barely budged. Since the timing of the turn before landfall is so uncertain and so key in where the core of Ike comes ashore...and since Ike will be rounding the ridge and not going in a straight line between 48 and 72 hours...one should not focus on the exact track. Everyone in the hurricane watch area has about the same risk of hurricane conditions.

I had thought it was going to go in down closer to Corpus, but their averaged track has it moving north into Houston just before landfall. That 'cool' spot sounds promising as does a ridge to the north keeping it from moving in that direction. I guess it's time to go buy some cornmeal, if there's anything left in the stores ;)

1. Okay, I found the following on another spiritual messageboard
( Earth Angels - yuku ) and thought I'd go ahead and post for future storms and Ike:
When we were finished with our Blue Light Star Attunement on sunday August 31st, 2008. i was asked by the group if we could work on hurricane Gustav with the new energies we had just brought in.

We did a short meditation with the whole group which was very powerful.

The results was great and the hurricane was not a hurricane anymore when it landed and did minimal damage this way.

We did not ask for the hurricane to go away, since much of these hurricanes and storms bring a lot of clearing for mother earth.

So we asked for that to be done with minimal damage for everyone involved.

We worked with a group using the Blue Light Star System energies but you can use any other energy of your own like Reiki.

I have made a small file of this meditation, its not perfect since it came from the conference recording, but I added some music to it and its available for free on our website.

You can find the meditation in MP3 under free downloads in the main menu.

The direct download link is http://www.ascendedmasters.org/free-downloads and then the mp3 link is right there. I'm going to listen to it now and let y'all know as work has been canceled for the rest of the week.

2. I'm in Fort Bend.
Work is cancelled, school is cancelled, and I just saw that League City is now being evacuated.

I know I'll be hoping for a weaker storm. (As much as I'd like it to go east of Houston, so we don't get the dirty side, all those people have had enough bad weather. The news says even if it hits Corpus, Houston will still be hit with wind and floods. So yes, a weaker storm please.)

3. I think that it's a good idea for us to do as we did for Gustav.
Thanks for the reminder, kentauros.

6. Most recent computer models have Ike going east.
http://www.wunderground.com/tropical/tracking/at200809.html

I do hope it loses strength. This area has been pummeled already and I fear people to the east cannot afford to evacuate again after having done so with Gustav.

7. I see the water along the coastline - about 35 miles out
becoming more and more cool from the northern coast of Mexico curving all the way around to Louisiana. Blue, icy cold water. The cold water is slowing that storm down and the energy is falling away faster than could be expected.

8. Thanks for the help, y'all
:)

I've been without phone service since yesterday morning. Don't ask me why, unless TPC (The Phone Company) was anticipating loss of service and shutting things down pre-emptively So, I've only been online for a few hours now, as I cook and bake, and I don't mean from a loss of electricity ;)

I did the cornmeal ritual very late last night, though I had very little cornmeal and had to mix in semolina flour to spread it out. It's very granular and yellow, too, so maybe it will be enough. I get the feeling that the intent is enough to get us noticed for protection, so I'm going with that.

I see the cooler coastal waters sucking the heat and convection out of Ike, performing the function that is quite natural when hurricanes weaken this way. The impact will be less than anticipated while still performing the cleansing function of a hurricane at minimal strength. All that ask will be protected. Expect miracles.
