Something I think I can only post here.
Please look at this discussion, especially my post, number 10. http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x3806485

Someone recently suggested to me that perhaps a lot of the current "obesity epidemic" is a lot of people who starved to death in a recent life, and so overeat without control this time around. It certainly makes sense to me, at least as much as my postulated viral connection.

I personally think that past life issues are important and ongoing and rarely recognized, especially by those who don't acknowledge the possibility of a past life at all. But, as far as I'm concerned, it makes a lot of sense out of many things.

Anyway, if anyone has a comment to make I'd appreciate it.

1. I can totally see that
I agree with you that past life issues are not considered much. So many people died in the past of starvation, or in violent ways. It makes total sense to me that something related to that past life would play out now.

5. The high fructose corn syrup helps tremendously, too.
It contains no nutrients and screws with liver and pancreatic functions. I read recently that it was banned as a food additive until 1917 or so because it made test animals diabetic.

I quit HFCS, made no other changes to my diet, and immediately stopped gaining wait, and maintained it for more than 5 years. (I quit beer recently due to a diagnosis if wheat insensitivity and lost 10 lbs in a month).

I'm not discounting an inherited/carried-over hangup for sweets or overeating. I'm adding that our major food processors have made it too easy for us to do ourselves in.

With the exception of pregnancies, we're by and large allergic to the things we crave. Corn syrup is sweet, sweet poison.

2. I know this to be part of my own weight issue
BTW I believe past life therapy can be effective even if the person does not believe in past lives. If they are willing to try it and treat the memories as a way for their psyche to symbolically represent the issue behind their problem and so go with the flow, feel and release the feelings, they will still find healing.

I have undergone many past life regressions including several with starvation including unto death. In one of my most recent regressions I remembered a lifetime somewhere in Northern Africa. My elder sister and I were teenage orphans when famine hit. She pretended to eat more than she really did giving the lions share of what little we had to me. She died but I survived that famine because of her sacrifice.

There are other traumas from past lives that leaked over and IMO predisposed me to this problem or current lifetime events caused them to leak over. I believe that past life therapy is a good part of the reason I have finally released half of my excess weight.

I wish more people would try it. It is certainly less toxic and dangerous than the methods many use to loose excess weight from smoking to diet pills to crash diets to excessive exercise replacing one addiction with another.

3. I have been wanting to post a past life thread! I completely agree with you
I had some information about a past life of mine become very clear before the lunar eclipse this month. I had several weeks of very intense remembering/activity/dreams, and after the eclipse, it stopped.

In my past life I lost a very beloved husband in some sort of war/conflict, and then was a refugee with my children and could not scrounge up enough for us to survive. This is why I am so absolutely terrified of what could happen with these awful republicans in power, and I have moments of panic at least once a day about not being able to provide for my children.

I agree with you, many people overlook th significance of this. But they have to believe first, and unfortunately for them, they don't.

4. there are generational issues as well
There are ancestral influences on DNA. Have you ever heard of Wilson's Thyroid Syndrome? It is an atypical thyroid problem--there is a problem converting T4 thyroid hormone into T3--the active hormone. When we fast, or don't eat for whatever reason, the body goes into survival mode, and the conversion shuts down. Then, when we start eating again, it sometimes gets "stuck"!! Any kind of shock or stress can trigger this survival instinct in susceptible people.

According to Wilson, the survival instinct (tendency not to convert T4 To T3) is very strong among people with genetics linked to populations that have starved in the past-including Irish, Russians, etc. This can, of course account for a lot of weight gain. Most doctors don't even check Total T3 levels and compare them to T4 levels.

7. There's also research out there
that indicates what one's grandmother ate or was exposed to can ultimately impact her grandchildren. All of this is true.

6. Thanks for the various responses.
I am not discounting high fructose corn syrup or the sheer availability of a lot of food, but it still strikes me as distinctly odd (I can't think of a better word than that) that so many of us are not just a little overweight but obese, even morbidly obese. I also believe strongly that even though past life issues may be at work in much of our lives, it is absolutely incumbent upon us to behave well, treat others with dignity and respect, be honest, and so on. Nothing alters the fact that we are here to work on certain issues, or one of us actually is allergic to wheat (for instance) and another person is not. Doesn't mean wheat is poison for all and should be banned.

Anyway, thanks for the sensible support.

8. Spiritually speaking, think of the currently shifting planet
as magnetics have dissapated over the past 40 years, the obesity has increased ...now, HFCS may be part of the mechanism to make this happen...but what if people were using all that extra weight to stay grounded?

I think the emotional body factor of protection against pain is big, as is the need for people to remain in their bodies and not fly away off the planet...

let me know what you think

9. they always run this crap up the flag poll to see how effectively their mind control programs are
working.. to check if they need to dumb down the schools some more

The flame retardants, called polybrominated diphenyl ethers (Bodes), have been produced since the 1960s; they’re now found in consumer products like carpeting, upholstered furniture, computers and hair dryers, where they retard the combustibility of these products. It’s estimated that American consumers come into contact with up to 100 products containing PBDEs per day.
