Starting Over
Has anyone else discovered this daytime reality show? It's simply fabulous.

It's basically a group of women (6, and they rotate in and out) doing group therapy in a home called The Starting Over House which is run by Iyanla -- does anyone remember her from the Oprah show a few years ago?

There are also 2 therapists involved, and we get to watch these women divulge their life stories, work through their problems and issues (and it can be VERY intense) and eventually graduate from the Starting Over House.

I only discovered it a few weeks ago, and this is the 2nd season. I imaigne it's syndicated, which means you may not get it on your local network channels, but it's worth searching for IMO.

I am an Iyanla fan anyway. She calls herself a Life Coach on this show and I imagine has certification for that, but she is also (not discussed on the show while I've watched) a priestess in her earth-centered African-based religion (I don't remember the name, but I am pretty sure it's not VooDoo), and is just profound, really. Majestic, life-affirming, incredibly spiritual and -- well, wonderful.

There's also a website I haven't checked out yet: www.startingovertv.com

Check it out if you get a chance. It's not only iteresting, but very pesonally healing since it tends to trigger some of YOUR issues along with these women, and provides insights and techniques for overcoming them.

2. I love that show!
I notice that they are showing some of the old episodes on satellite tv.
Guess I will have to tape it once I start the new job.

3. Which channel?
I get DISH. I wouldn't mind seeing some of the old episodes. I love the show. Today they had a pretty big tease for Monday's show. I tend to organize my day around being able to watch it, if I can.

5. The show on sexual abuse got to me
I just finished googling as I do every so many years, my abuser.
It was my babysitters oldest son. I had kept up with his mother, whom I did care for. I forget how old I was, but I had decided to tell her about the abuse and went to visit her. Unfortunately, she had died, and I had not known she had passed away.
Her husband was there, but I was afraid of him. There might have been something there as well, but I can't remember that.
I just always knew to stay clear of him, and that dates WAYYYY back.
If you don't like graphic stuff, move on now...as I will tell you what happened.
Maybe it is time I told....somebody...anybody.
It happened on more than one occasion. I recall sitting on the couch, talking to his mother....her son next to me. He had his hand down my shorts in the back...he had a finger in someplace, I cannot say whether it was my rear or vagina. He threatened me not to let on....I squirmed. How could his mother not have known something was going on? I was about 6-8 yrs old, and he was about 14.
Another time, he tried to get to me in an abandoned car on their property and I kicked him with all my might in the jewels.
We moved from there when I was 11, thank God.

8. Oh, Digit, I'm so sorry
I'm sorry too that you weren't able to tell her about it before she died. I think it's really important for some people to be able to do that. Thanks for telling US, though. I hope it helps.

I saw that episode too, and found it incredibly powerful.

6. Sounds interesting. I remember her from Oprah's show.
And liked her. will have to check the schedule--our cable service leaves a lot to be desired and I usually don't watch daytime anymore--but this sounds intriguing. Thanks.

9. I like Iyanla a lot too
I find her so often incredibly profound.

Remember now, for me anyway, this is on a local network channel (and even tho I get it via satellite, it's still local network).
