Remembering The Soul
I have been soo not in sync these past few months and only recently am able to re-collect the scattered "self" so to speak. I thought, this newsletter was quite interesting in that I have in the past only tried to calm the endless chatter in my mind, when I tried to meditate. It brought a different perspective and approach...

From the current newsletter from
Dr. Phillip Mountrose and Dr. Jane Mountrose Co-Directors of Awakenings Institute, Holistic Coaches and Ministers of Holistic Healing

SOUL-BASED MEDITATION

We meditate regularly and find it valuable. It sets our course and deepens our intimacy with our soul. In addition to the spiritual growth benefits, meditation has been found to remove stress and help many ailments.

Research has shown meditation can improve issues such as high blood pressure, chronic pain, sleep disturbances, gastrointestinal distress, mild depression, fatigue and others. What's more, it may increase your life span and favorably restructure your brain in areas affecting attention and sensory processing.

AN OVERLOOKED PROBLEM

Yes, most know this challenge: that it can be difficult to still both your body and mind to meditate. But there's another problem that many don't realize.
The problem arises over the disconnect between meditating and having peace of mind after meditating, that is, throughout the rest of your day. In other words, why are people still so out of balance in their daily life if they meditate regularly?
We are pointing to what can be a disconnect between meditating and receiving direct guidance from your soul. Guidance with your soul translates into more inner clarity, which, in turn, helps you address any external challenges you face throughout the day.
The type of meditation where you sit and be still (focusing on nothing or just on breathing) can have unintended consequences, if not put in perspective. If your goal while meditating is to observe inner mind chatter and let it pass through, you may be missing something: you soul's guidance!
Some of those "idle thoughts" passing through can actually be messages from your soul. If you ignore those soulful messages, or even suppress them, what pattern are you creating?
Yes, some of the passing thoughts are of little value. The goal is to distinguish such idle thoughts from genuine soulful guidance. There is a big qualitative difference. If you have a goal to receive your soul's messages, and use a process like soul-centering, you will be successful.

THE ULTIMATE GOAL

The ultimate goal is to be more connected with your soul, for longer periods and with greater clarity. The more we merge with the soul, the more we grow and fulfill our purpose and dreams.
One of the ways to receive such soulful guidance is through meditating. If you block off those enlightened messages, however, such meditation can actually separate your from your soul and its all-important guidance.
To consciously connect with your soul, we recommend soul-centering (see http://www.gettingthru.org/sn0599.htm or the Getting Thru to Your Soul book or CDs.)
As a note, meditation is not a substitute for clearing blocks. For clearing, as you know, we recommend EFT and Spiritual Kinesiology

JOURNALING AND MEDITATION

Life is light.
So be light.
Bring lightness to heaviness
and you will clear and see through
the obstacles that are in your way.
Blessings!
--from Phillip's journal, 6/17/08

We like to journal, often as part of our meditation. We find this kind of "automatic writing" -- where you just start writing and let your soul's messages come though -- extremely valuable and fun to do. Also, we use meditation and journaling to interpret our dreams with our soul's guidance.

CONCLUSION

Let's recap. Meditation is highly recommended for spiritual growth and all the 3-D benefits as well (stress relief, better sleep, healthier body, etc.).
Yet a few difficulties arise. Beside the sheer challenge of stilling your body and mind, there's another little-known problem: ignoring your soul's messages during meditation.
With practice, meditation should put you in a soulful state. Sometimes this is a wordless state; sometimes you perceive your soul's presence through color, images, or just a knowing. But at other times, profound messages come through (although they may at first appear obvious or "simple").
You can also ask to receive a message and, through experience, will be able to feel that it is your soul speaking. Your soul speaks clearly and eloquently, if you open to it. Journaling will help facilitate the process. Actually, the very goal of soul-centering during meditation can make an immediate profound impact.
We hope these thoughts help your meditations. We find soul-based meditation to be one of the best parts of our day -- and the energy and guidance carries us throughout the day.

1. Thanks, rumpel. This is a really important point.
I find that I get most of my soul messages when I'm either in the shower or driving, both of which are basically semi-meditative states.

I really liked what he says:

Excerpt:

In this first issue of the Getting Thru To Your Soul Newsletter, we are going to focus on reconnecting with the truth of who we are by connecting with the soul. We understand that those who have been drawn to this material have already begun the journey of remembering and are allowing their souls to guide them forward towards wholeness. You are also helping to lead all of humanity towards this goal and we honor each and every one of you for this.

To connect with the soul, we first need to understand how we exist multi-dimensionally. We exist on many levels and our physical reality, which is the densest level, is a reflection of the energy that is filtering down from the higher levels. All of the events of our lives and our physical bodies are reflections of who we are and the lessons we are learning. Where we experience pain, fear or other painful emotions, they are showing us where we are not yet able to bring the truth of the soul into our lives.

Even though we are in the density of the third dimension, each of us has a connection with the higher dimensions and the divine nature of the soul. The light we sense above us is the light of the higher self or oversoul. Within the body, our connection with the soul is anchored in the heart. It is by connecting with your heart and opening to the experience of unconditional love in your heart that you access the divinity within yourself.

It is also important to note that we are not alone on the spiritual journey. Each of us has guides, angels and masters who are reaching down to us from the higher dimensions and helping us to connect with the truth of who we are. You may already have a relationship with these beings of light. If not, you can develop a relationship with them as you connect more consciously with your soul and your soul’s divine wisdom. As with the soul, the way to connect with them is through unconditional love, as love is the common language through which they communicate.
