This "apparition" visits me from time to time.

It first showed up in April of 1997, manifesting as a swirling line of colors, mostly blue and gold. The closest way I can describe it is looking somewhat like the old "Mystify" screensaver on Windows. The angular lines that dance and change around a central point, except this is more circular in its appearance.

It always begins in the "distance" and draws closer, as if passing through and over my head. In the vast majority of visits, it appears from my right, although while watching The Concert For George a few months back, it appeared from the left. At its height, there are pulsating points of light and color encircling my field of vision, leaving a clear view through the "halo."

It comes when it will, and there doesn't seem to be any connection between an appearance and my physical condition; it has even showed up when I was certain I was asleep. Though I suffer cluster migraines every few years, it has not once showed up before an attack (ie, the "aura" that some people report). It seems utterly benign and is quite beautiful; I just wonder what the heck it IS!

A Native American woman told me it was the Other Side trying to get in touch with me. I have sometimes gotten the impression of a "download." I have asked it who it is and what it wants, but have felt nothing in reply. I have wondered if I am seeing a Guide entity as described in the Kryon books--where beings are in their energy states and are distinguished by their color combinations. It has sometimes struck me as being an umbilical cord coming from Over There. (Yes, it has come and gone while I wrote this; its appearance prompted the post.)

Can anybody shed any, ahem, Light on this?

1. Certainly one of your guides,

or a guide that visits you now and then (obviously -- but as opposed to being assigned to you 24/7 as most of our guides are). It sounds quite beautiful. Lucky you that you can see it!

If you wish to make more conscious communication with it, continue to try to do so. Just get in a meditative state, surrounding yourself with White Light always (for psychic protection), state your intent, and either ask a question or just wait for input -- more vision, sensations, thoughts and flashes of insights, etc.

SOMETIMES the guideance we get feels like our own thoughts, event ho it isn't. The way I describe what I know is external guidance is that the flashes of insight (a) aren't connected to some stream of consciousness going on in my head and/or (b) jump in there in between my own thoughts -- which is a terrific defense of meditation if I ever heard one.

I had some flashes of insight today that came out of nowhere and were answers to some questions I had. Either my own Higher Self or a beloved Spirit Guide planted that helpful info for me.

IMPORTANT: if you try to communicate further using the sugestions I gave you, please have pen and paper at the ready -- you WILL be in an altered state and you WILL lose much and in fact most of what comes to you if you don't write it down and RIGHT NOW, as it happens. Don't worry, that won't spoil the mood or anything.

I will try your suggestion for communication, although getting into a meditative state is near-impossible for me (or so I have managed to convince myself). Perhaps the entity's display of colors will help?

8. Is this an orb you're seeing?

Every once in a while I'll see something like that. It's a very tiny dot and they're different in colors. Sometimes they're blue/green, purple/blue and once orange/gold. I see them a lot and never have bothered me. It's just a spirit I believe.

From what I've read, every person is born with 1 'anima' or spirits from the spirit world who watch over us and accompany us through our life.

In ancient Sweden they believed that each person was assigned 2 animal spirits, and they called them 'fylgja'. The modern Swedish word 'följa' comes from this word, and it means 'follow'. They hover in the background. Apparently they will never show themselves to us.

I have never seen mine, but one time I FELT one. It was my most desperate hour; I was alone and didn't know what to do. I was standing in the kitchen, trying to decide what to do.

In an instant, I felt this 'being' slip into me. It came from the left, and I could distinctly feel something. It said 'don't worry. Everything will be fine. Don't say anything bad about X_______. Don't even think anything bad about X______ and everything will turn out better than you even dreamed.

Then it left. I got the message. I stopped worrying and everything did straighten itself out. This being, or entity had a definite masculine feel to it. But I never saw anything.

That's such an awesome experience, dbt. I would like to encourage you to find out more, become more in tune to this being. thanks.

9. You can have as many guides as needed

I have three guides personally and an animal spirit. There used to be a lot of spirits who popped in around here but something had happened a year or so ago and now I'm shielded so I no longer help spirits.

10. oops, in my post I meant

'2' spirits at birth, not 1.

It's my understanding that we are assigned 2 human-type entities who will stay with us for the duration of our life. I recall reading about the Swedes and how they believed that they had "animal" spirits. I was never really sure about that.

I had always understood them to be departed humans who volunteer to care for the living, like possibly our ancestors or somehow related to us, or maybe a friend from a past life.

So I could never understand the 'animal' concept. I thought maybe the Swedes were misinformed. The accounts told about how they (the Swedes) would go up north to consult with the Lappish shaman. He would give advice on how to deal with problems or certain situations.

11. I do agree about the animal spirits

I know my main one is either a hawk or eagle. Not sure. I have seen popped around a wolf but that's rare. I remember the first time I saw him. :) He was very sweet. One point I had five guide's but I now just have three. All of them I know and have known in the spiritual realm. My main guide was a teacher of mine and he came with me here, my guardian is my soul mate who stayed behind this time because of various things I have to learn and a love guide who was/is my best friend in the spirit realm. :) I've never talked to my animal guide before.

12. It might be that

It might be that the relationships between the human race and other orders of conciousness (animal, human/spirit guides etc.) is far more complex and varied than our new age dogmas usually suggest.

I see no reason why different cultures wouldn't forge and evolve often strikingly diverse forms of interaction with the supra-physical kingdoms. Animal spirits, human spirits, elemental forces of nature, extra-terrestrial beings and many other forms of other-than-human intelligence all interact and support each other at certain angles and intersections of space/time. I imagine different cultures have their own individual emphases in their relationship with one or the other type of "spirit" beings. It would make sense to me that the history, geography, climate and language of a particular people would eveolve it's own access and communication styles with the unimaginably vast "other side".

Which is all by way of saying that our species probably falls under the category of "all of the above" when it comes to from whom, or what, we draw our evolutionary guidance.
