A little over a year ago I was in a lot of pain emotionally and I posted here

I had an abusive, lying, conniving and jealous boss and I worked in the most toxic environment imaginable.

I asked for support and it meant so much to me that I got it here. I also reached out to those in my personal life and with my loved ones' encouragement and yours, and with my knowledge that I no longer deserved to be abused or to be fearful, I left that job.

I now have a great boss and I work hard to express my appreciation for him and the people that I now work with.


For those still struggling or in difficult situations reflect on this thought:

"How many of the things that you were worried about a year ago are still worries today?"


This too shall pass.

You are absolutely right. It's so hard to imagine that we could end up in a better situation when we're mired in our own personal hell, but it's true. I was in the same position as you about a year and a half ago (and I, too, came here for support--thank the gods for the ASAH folks!), and it was very hard for me to quit my job, because even though it was terrible and my boss was a weenie of the highest order, the thought of quitting was frightening (and I always clung to the hope that it would get better, but it didn't--and from what I hear, it's just as awful there now, if not worse).

But now I have a wonderful freelance job and a fantastic editor (who just sent me an e-mail saying "Did I tell you that you were the BEST?") I am SO HAPPY with this job, which gives me time to spend with my son and time to work on our house, and I look back on my old job as a vaguely remembered nightmare.

So I say...if anyone is miserable in any situation, take the leap. The universe will catch you.
