What makes healing possible.
Edited on Sun Jan-27-08 08:00 PM by Metta
From Caroline Myss's Energy Anatomy.

What makes healing possible? Unplugging from our fears and from the beliefs that take our spirit from us. Since we create our own reality, as long as we plug in our circuits below our waist to people we want to control, fears we have and bad memories, we will need chemical medicine because energy medicine requires more of our circuitry, more of our energy, in present time. Acts of forgiveness and releasing people from their torments, bring us into present time. When we unplug from human order and need, from the need to know, from the human sequence of events, we open ourselves to divine sequence, i.e., spontaneity and miracles. Then, we’re receptive to a level of guidance that prepares us to take on tasks that aren’t self serving, that we otherwise wouldn’t have been able to do. The companions we are then sent are on the same frequency. We take care of ourselves as well as others and we become aware of what contaminates or feeds our spirit. Be aware that we’re not plugging in to our continued wounds and new/ new age externals but to honor our consciousnesses and live in spiritual integrity. Plug into the awareness that we’re right just where we are and that gratitude is the best attitude. It may not be comfortable perfection; it’s perfection, nonetheless.

1. Very nice, Metta. Thx for posting this. I might add that
I have found that extraordinary healing takes place when we ask for and
acknowledge help from those who love us on the other side.

This, of course, is gratitude of a form that we don't always think about.

2. My sense as well ...
... and healing doesn't always mean "cured" as Carolynn points out.

I love her work. She has helped us move forward with so much empowerment, hasn't she?

4. Yes, indeed, mysticalchick. Yes, indeed.
Healing isn't cured. How true.

7. Can you elaborate
on the difference between "healing" and "cured"?

8. As I understand it ...
.... cured (to me) means "in the physical" - healed means (again, to me) "in the meta (or non) physical". We had a wonderful friend in our Reiki community who struggled with so many, many addictions. She did an amazing amount of work on her soul and the reasons for these addictions in her life. She was diagnosed with (and eventually died from) cancer. At the time of her death, she had worked free from addictions to alcohol, cocaine and tobacco. Was she cured? Alas, no. But was she healed?? Very much so, yes. She took on the task of looking, really looking, at what was hers to do in this lifetime. Any steps toward that (again, IMO) contribute to your healing.

Another example - my mom was very bitter most of her life about getting (as she put it) "the shitty end of the stick". One event in particular had to do with forgiving my dad his transgression during their marriage. She could not do it. Even at the end of her life, as she and I talked about it, she would not forgive him (he had transitioned many, many years before that) or her mother for their parts in what had happened. She carried that bitterness with her like a talisman. When she died of cancer, was she cured? Obviously not. Was she healed? No, I don't see it that way. She refused to let go of that bitterness or even look at what she had done (if anything) to contribute to the situation or almost ANY situation in her life. Did she do the work she came here to do? In my view, no. And it's my belief that if that's not the case, we will come back again to learn those lessons that help us in our soul growth.

Again, these are viewed through my life experiences. I'd love to hear what others have seen with regard to this subject and their experiences.

Hope this clarified for you! :)

11. Oh yes, there is such difference between healing and curing.
I agree that curing is mostly physically-based, while healing has everything to do with our spirit.

I now know that the things in life I sometimes so desperately longed for will not come to me in this lifetime. The understanding I am acquiring of why I longed for it, and why not getting it is not at all a failure or even a negative but a gift to teach me my lesson of humility and gratitude for all that I am and all that I have - is what I feel is true healing from my "dis-ease". My life problem (or illness) is not cured, but healed.

Bernie Siegel addresses this subject matter in some of his most excellent and comforting books, IMO.

19. I have all kinds of respect for Caroline
Myss, and maybe if I heard her explanation I might change my mind. But, I don't buy this. To me "heal" means "make whole".
If we are whole, it includes our bodies, minds and spirits. I just don't agree with this definition of "healing".

12. mysticalchick did a good job
Healing is at a soul level, clearing away emotional blockages and making the way clear so your soul can move on. My doctor often talks of healing people just before they have died of cancer. In some cases, having an incurable disease can actually be the catalyst that allows you to heal-to transcend those thought patterns and fears that have limited you.

10. Yes, Metta, I also much appreciate this reminder.
Thanks!

I am working on and accomplishing many of my soul goals for this life, and now turn to the core task of loving and caring for myself as much as I do others. This is another tough one for me.....!

13. Thanks again for this post Metta. The reminder was truly
needed and very timely for me.

I have a friend that I have been practicing Reiki with and her husband has MS. For some reason I have, in the back of my mind, the obsession to see him 'cured'.

Thus the reminder of the difference btw. healed and cured.

Thx! ;)
