I sent my final payment in to my attorney, so he could file bankruptcy for me.

This isn't my first choice, but at the end of the day, it's really my only one.

I am filing for Chapter 7, but there's a chance I won't get it, and will have to do Chapter 13, which means I'll have to pay off a portion of my debts.

So sorry you have to go through this, SG. Just know that you're not alone--despite the tougher bankruptcy laws, many folks are doing this. Mr. MG's best friend just told him he was declaring bankruptcy--just before Christmas. He and his family don't live "crazy" by any means, but somehow, over the years, they racked up $80K in debt. It happens these days, sad to say. The interesting thing is, the greater number of people who do it, the less of a stigma there is.

As Stella said, may you see this as a clearing and a lightening. Chin up, dear! :hug:
