My New Year's Message to DU (heh heh)

I posted this up in GD and thought I'd link to it here because it's in the general area of something we discuss in here sometimes. Honestly, it feels sort of self-aggrandizing and bloviating to post this (who the hell am I, after all?) But I felt called on to write it and to post it, so voila. :) Thought I'd share here too, because I expect it'll sink like a stone (so long!). Hee.
