So I'm picking up my Numerology books again...
I first looked at Numerology about 30 years ago when I bought a book on the subject out of a sale bin at Kmart.

At the time I had NO idea what a long strange trip it would end up being, but this is where it all started for me. Later, when I picked up my first Tarot cards to explore, I was fascinated by how Numerology was such a big part of working with Tarot. 25 years later, I'm trying to gain a better understanding of Astrology (with the help of all of you!)

Lately, on here, we've all been talking about the various Astrological houses. In exploring that I see those SAME numerical patterns and associations creeping out.

For a kid who "hated" math at one point in my life, it is still blowing me away well into my middle ages.

Anyhow, is Numerology something you guys have all studied at one point or another?

Do ya wanna if you haven't?

Just wondering...

1. I have studied ..
numerology and Tarot. Less so astrology. I never noticed the similarities of the houses and numerology. hmm I'll have to take a look at that.

4. Yeh, me too
It's so funny, after all these years, I guess I'd better look at that too!
Thanks.

2. My token truly healthy relationship was with a really astute numerologist.
He studied Pythagorean Theory, Sacred Geometry, Quantum Mechanics, Fibinachi, Jungian Symbolism, etc and was totally brilliant.

I used to joke with him that he would end up being the better astrologer of the two of us.

He used to say that "astrology could be construed as nothing more than a really complex system of numerology."

The method of numerology he taught me is really quite unique as it is his own so I sometimes have trouble conversing with other numerologists but it totally resonates with me.

But Laura, he also used to say that people who stunk at math tended to do well with numerology once the get over their phobia of numbers because they are not linear thinkers exclusively and can generally relate with symbolic realms more readily.

11. I'm still giggling over the idea my math phobia is a good thing!
Literally, the one class I HATED in High School was Geometry. I came very close to failing it--and that was a shock to my system because I'd NEVER had problems with grades until that point. I kept on saying "HOW will I ever use this in my life?" I saw zero need for it and rebelled hugely.

One aspect of my job today is to measure and calculate sq footage of houses along with calculating cubic footage (volume) for commercial spaces. Yep, I'm using GEOMETRY!

Another aspect of what I do is statistical work involving medians, means and modes. Again--stuff I hated in school and swore I'd NEVER use in real life.

What am I playing with now? Pythagorean Numerology...

Go figure!

Stella, I'd love to hear a bit about this other system you bring up. Is it anything you are comfortable enough with to thumbnail for me?

3. You wanna read a phenomenal NUMBERS book?

"A Beginner's Guide to Constructing the Universe: Mathematical Archetypes of Nature, Art, and Science by Michael" - S. Schneider (Amazon Paperback - Nov 8, 1995)

He did a great job itemizing the numbers 1 through 10 in a layman's way of handling the math. A must before proceeding with Tarot/Numerology.

5. I've dabbled in it a little. Mostly because I think after a while,
you can't help but notice that certain numbers have a certain kind of significance.

6. Have you read The Life You Were Born to Live by Dan Millman?
Edited on Fri Mar-02-07 05:23 PM by kineta
One of the best numerology books i've seen. I took it to a party with some girl friends and calculated everyone's birthday, then read the corresponding descriptions without telling who it belonged to or what the numbers were. We made a game of guessing who the descriptions belonged to. Everyone guessed 100% correct, his descriptions were so spot on. Good 'life purpose' advise too.

(edited for 'spellchecking' badness)

7. Cheiro's Book of Numbers has always been my favorite.
It taught me so many helpful things that I still use every day. One helpful thing is discovering whether your name mumbers vibrate in harmony with your birthdate numbers. And it's good to be able to assess compatability with others, much like we use astrology. Love it.

8. I've always been fascinated by numerology.
Plus, I'm quirky with numbers b/c I'm really good at remembering peoples' bd's. heheh.

Numerology, Astrology and the Tarot are ALL connected, imo. There's a lot of wisdom available in those tools.

:hi:

Do you realize we have a 7/7/07 date coming up in July? Cool, huh? Apparently, since it's on a Saturday, it's shaping up to be a really popular wedding day. :D I guess people think their marriage odds are pretty damn good with triple 777's.

:hi:

10. Have you all looked at this site for Numerology?
http://www.decoz.com/DoReading_numerology.htm

I've enjoyed poking around on here, and I do think they do a pretty good job of teaching calculation methods. This is Pythagorean Numerology, pure and simple, and it is a good starting point, I think, and not terribly offensive if you already know what you are doing.

Somebody on here had posted a link to this site (at some point in time) because of the "Find Lost Objects" feature they have under the "Free Stuff" heading. http://www.decoz.com/LostObjects.php I started poking around on there a bit after that and if you can get past the attempts to sell their software it is not too bad. (I wish I could remember who it was--please take a bow if it was you!)

I'm gonna have to look for some of these titles you guys have mentioned in this thread! Thanks SO much (as always!) for sharing the info!
