This may sound really silly, but, over the weekend, the Universe gave me the gift of the perfect pair of pants. I have an extremely difficult time finding pants that fit me. (I don't understand it because I'm not weirdly shaped. :() I can go shopping 3 or 4 times looking for pants and not find anything.

I was at the mall this weekend waiting for my glasses to be made at Lenscrafters and passed the time by looking around in the clothing area of Macy's. (I hate to shop, but figured that this was the best way to pass time.) I went into the dressing room to try something on, and the perfect pair of pants was in the dressing room waiting for me! I tried them on and everything about them was perfect! I even found them in another color as well, and they were on sale. I feel so loved! :) I feel so grateful!

1. A friend unexpectedly took me to lunch at a new tea room

and my now ex republican brother called after many months of not speaking and said he was wrong to have supported bush!!!

I wore hip huggers in the 70's too. I don't plan on being wearing them now. Though I still have good hips. I'll just wear them up around my waist, thanks. We're not talking about high water. Just goddess gave us a waist for a belt, right? Of course I go California style with no belt. But you get the drift.

edit: I am going to make one remark for now and only. When I do edit, it means I misspelled or just didn't like what I wrote. That happens a lot. I wish DU would do away with the red tag that someone screwed up. But they won't. Maybe legal coverage. Whatever. I screw up. So be it.

3. The Universe helped me get a new car last week ...

... all my months of scrimping and paper shuffling and working to get my credit score back in good standing has paid off.

My previous car was starting to cost me alot of money on constant niggling repair issues, so last weekend I went test driving and lo! was approved for fairly decent financing!!

I didn't see it as 'love from the Universe', but I suppose you're correct. O8)

6. I found a life-changing book

It's called "Advanced Chakra Healing" by Cyndi Dale. The information contained in this book has enabled me to enhance my healing ability quite a bit. It's like being handed spiritual ascension information from the mystery schools in one book.

Last week I asked Divine Mother if this book was right for me. Her answer--a strong vibration coming through my bedside lamp! At first I thought it was the fan moving the lamp as it started out a small tick-tick-tick. In a few minutes it was a full-on vibration. When I put my hand next to the lampshade, my fingers started vibrating too. This continued for about 5 minutes.

8. Yes - a new job in Massachusetts

I've wanted to work here for years. (I'm a contract computer programmer and I move around a lot - which I like - 4 planets in Gemini - hate to feel stagnant!) Also, I have started taking the amino acid taurine, and it really is just the thing my easily stressed self needs to stay calm. Wish I'd been taking it for years, and it's very cheap! I feel oddly hopeful about the future.

I've tried everything, Rhodiola Rosea, etc. Everything worked somewhat, (except Valerian, which made me depressed) but this has really made a huge difference for me. I used to be easily offended and easily upset by traffic, the jerk in front of me in line, etc. Now I barely notice these things. It has been amazing!

Taurine: Calming Influence
Taurine is an amino acid that plays a major role in the brain as an "inhibitory" neurotransmitter. Similar in structure and function to GABA, taurine provides a similar antianxiety effect that helps to calm or stabilize an excited brain. Taurine has many other uses as well, including treating migraine, insomnia, agitation, restlessness, irritability, alcoholism, obsessions, depression, and even hypomania/mania – the "high" phase of bipolar disorder or manic depression. By inhibiting the release of adrenaline, taurine also protects us from anxiety and other adverse effects of stress. It even helps control high blood pressure. You may have noticed it as an ingredient in some of the energizing, high-caffeine soft drinks, to soften any overstimulation.

Vegetarians can be at risk for taurine deficiency since taurine is found in animal and fish protein, especially organ meats. A nonessential amino acid, taurine can be manufactured by the body in the liver and brain from the amino acids L-cysteine and L-methionine, plus the cofactor vitamin B6. When there are insufficiencies, though, you are best to supplement directly with taurine. The recommended dose is 100-500 mg twice daily, and higher as needed, between meals for best absorption.

19. Isn't that weird? I'm a veggie too.

Not for moral or nutritional reasons, I just can't seem to digest meat. I get migraines and then vomit uncontrollably for hours after I eat meat. The same thing happens with most fish. I can do milk and eggs though.

I read somewhere that computer programming is a "strange mix of stress and boredom." Don't you think that's true? Days, even weeks might go by with very little to do and then I'll get slammed. I think that is very bad for me because I don't handle the stress well when I get slammed and my Gemini mind goes nuts when I'm bored. I start to over-analyze EVERYTHING - and I usually talk about it and drive my co-workers crazy!!! The Taurine helps with that. I still talk and over-analyze too much, but it's diminished. I once worked with a wonderful Chinese woman who said to me (imagine a thick Chinese accent) "You must learn to quiet your mind - you must quiet your mind." I loved her.

for the next release of our software product. I agree with the boredom part, but I imagine that boredom's a part of most jobs, and at least we get paid decently. (At least that's what I tell myself!) However, there's nothing like working on something for days and finally having it all come together! :D

I posted this on the prayer list. But I did some freecycling this weekend.
Getting rid of stuff he left behind so I can be a free bird again.

Freecycle is the greatest. I got rid of some lamps, that new owners love. A couple of Tarot books. Some games. A prized and cherished button collection.

When you do this you meet the most amazing people. Because we all love Mother Earth and don't want to see her destroyed or dumped on.

One woman brought me a push lawn mower. No gas, no electricity, just good old fashioned self propelled. It doesn't really work on the weeds. But I am proud to have it.

I consider it a gift. I feel loved.

Your pant story is cute! I love recycle shops, but haven't found an affordable one in my new location yet.
I got the most amazing dress for $12.00 at my former shop. I still have a spiffy one I've never worn that I got for $8.00. Dayum I wish someone would take me dancing. I've got the dress.

I'm going to wear the $12.00 one at my son's wedding in November. It is so awesome. I'm not a clothes horse. I found JC Penney's has the only jeans I can wear. And they never wear out. Serious.

Shoes are another story. There was a great shoe store where I used to live and I got a great pair of black heels. I love to wear them, but rarely get the chance, since I don't dress up all that often. I have a pair of sandles which have turned into river shoes since I moved here. My mother liked them so much, she went and got a pair too. That was at Foley's. I kicked myself after moving here for giving away a perfect pair of river sandals. You can't walk on the rocks barefoot. So now I really do need to find a newer pair of sandals. I hate shopping.

As long as we are talking clothes stuff .. I have a great handbag collection. I found a Docky at Kohl's a few years ago. Leather. My preference. And I have stuck with it. I used to change handbags by the season. I have another small one I take for nights out. But I think my handbag collection is worth a fortune. I just don't want them taking up all this space any more. Some of them I bought at garage sales for about $1.00. They are cute. One I splurged on and bought at MGM, Las Vegas. I've never used it. I have another one made of pearls. Someone gave me that. What was I thinking? I just love to collect handbags. The time has come for me to give them back to Universe (ALL). It's just going to take me a bit longer. I used to think of opening a small shop in a trader's mall and calling it bag lady .. or something. I have like the cutest bags. There are some consignment shops here, so if I want to put things on consignment .. the last time I did that, it seems that all my stuff got "shoplifted". How convient.

I love to trade clothes with my sister. She has a huge budget and good taste. So when she cleaned out her closet I would go over and take this or that.

So glad the Universe (ALL) gave you some neat pants. But you put me on a clothes rant. Think I'm done.

22. LOL, I got a piece of brownie from my dead friend

I posted about it earlier. A friend of mine (and her dog) died in a car accident. I missed the news because I was helping out some other friends whose kids were having a rough time after losing their friends in a fire and wasn't paying attention to the news. One of the last things Michelle and I talked about was making some brownies and hanging out on her front porch to go over plans for her garden. Saturday I found a piece of brownie in the middle of my bacon. It was very cool to the touch although it was sitting on top of a slice of bacon that was sizzling away. I was weirded out by that and after a while I strolled down to Michelle's (my long time friend and guru) to see what she thought about it. I got to her house and her daughter told me that she had passed on. That piece of brownie was the best gift I've gotten in a long time. It made me feel very loved.

10 days ago. "unfinished business" with all 3, one the love of my life I never expected to see again. it would be unusual to hear from all 3 within the same week, but within a 12 hour period, weird. maybe the recent political shifts inspired them to open their hearts to me at the same time, or maybe that was just a karmic cosmic period with GOP truths being revealed as well.

26. Oh, Dream

I have had many over the space of a couple of weeks.

In addition to finding a place that I love (well, through a friend), it was almost completely furnished because of others generousity. I really wanted to make a fresh start, with new (to me; gently used is what I preferred and was going to look in antique/thrift shops). Some friends gave me a very nice computer desk and a beautiful old rocking chair; another gave me a very nice dining suite. The woman who moved out left a couch (in excellent condition), an entertainment unit, some lamps and curtains; and a friend was trying to freecycle a dresser for her neighbours; people kept on not showing up, so I took it. It's a beautiful hardwood dresser from the 1950's...

I went grocery shopping and found, of all things, a beautiful comforter for almost 1/2 price, in my favourite colours - burgundy and gold. My computer speakers failed, and found a great buy on them. (not in the grocery store!)

I was thinking about getting some plants when another friend asked if I needed any - she brought over quite a few that she wanted to get rid of.

The only thing I have to buy is a bookcase.

I also had plenty of help moving - much of my unpacking was done the very first day. The place was also infused with so much positive energy - can you imagine lots of laughter on a moving day? I never thought I would. But it happened.

What sounds like an odd 'gift' - I wasn't invited to a family Thanksgiving dinner. I realize how much I detest those holidays with them - they are very passive aggressive, and in some cases, downright vicious. I had told myself a couple of months ago that I wasn't going to spend any more holidays with them - that, in fact, I would spend as little time with them as possible; that if I had to spend holidays alone, so be it. So, in essence, I got what I wanted.

(I was invited to a friend's, had a lovely time - they feel more like family than my own)

I can't call any of these 'little' - I am indeed lucky to be the recipient of such generousity. :-)

28. About the pants, I have the same problem, but not because

of being wierdly shaped either. It's because you are a common size and those disappear off the rack more quickly than the rest. The best time to shop is when your favorite store gets in new shipments. I know it's hard to monitor, but a nice saleslady can become your friend and tip you off if you cultivate that relationship.

However, finding that and a nice color is definitely a gift. :-)

I have enough difficulty getting around a mall with my knee issue, but found that stores no longer carry anything under a size 6.

Check out zappos.com for all sorts of brand names in your size. If you have a DSW (Designer Shoe Warehouse) in your area, they carry many shoes in size 6 at discount prices.

... it's been a pretty good couple of weeks. :) Alot of my financial mess is working itself out and I've been the grateful recipient of a little unexpected money which has helped ease the pressure immensely.

Having said that, though, I wouldn't go so far as to say I feel "loved" as a result of that. More like a sense of relief; a sense that this crisis, too, shall pass without having to take drastic measures to make sure the lights stay on.

I've never been one to equate 'things' or 'gifts' with a feeling of 'love' (and I don't mean that in a derogatory way) - so while I do appreciate immensely that The Universe is helping me regain balance in my day-to-day affairs, a feeling of "being loved" is something that still eludes me.

36. A very close hawk encounter

This afternoon, I decided it was time to watch The Secret again just because I like the way it makes me feel. I was struck once again how they said you would get nudges, signs, or whatnot to show you the way.

It was my turn to answer phones at work today from 1-5, and as I was leaving the office building, a hawk sailed by within two feet of me and about two feet off the ground! I turned around and watched as it landed on a branch not far off the ground and I began slowly walking towards it so I could get a better look. It was a beautiful creature and a thrill to see.

I was about 20 feet away when it flew onto a lawn area still closeby and just then a pedestrian was walking on an adjacent sidewalk and stopped to watch it as well.
The hawk decided to fly back into the tree and with the show over I smiled at the pedestrian and gave a thumbs up.

I thanked the Universe for the close encounter and took it as a positive sign.

42. I got an amazing compliment from

an icon in the middle-eastern dance (belly dance) world, whose workshop I attended last week. It was completely unlooked-for and I nearly fainted from shock. Apparently I'm a pretty good dancer!

The funny thing about it, though, is that, rather than just make me float along happily, it's kicked the dust off my comfortable, boring existence. The sudden recognition has made everything I'm unhappy about/dissatisfied with stand out like neon signs, and--it's almost as if the teacher/icon's kind comments have led to an imperative to change those things about my life I don't like. I don't understand the connection yet, but I sense there is a strong one there. Does that make sense?

So yeah, it's a gift, but kind of a tough one.
