Seeking an old posted link--US tsunami zones map...
Hi All!

I recall a link of this sort after Katrina, I thought that I bookmarked the thread that it was on, but apparently I did not. I can't find it. :(

It was a map predicting the way the US will look in years after the tsunamis, where some coasts were alleviated completely. Kind of scary :scared: but interesting. Wanted to check it against some of the information out thanks to Gore and others work,in regard to global warming.

I hope someone here knows what the heck I'm talking about.

Thanks!

bliss:)

what you're talking about. I thought I bookmarked too, but can't find it. But as I recall it wasn't related to Tsunami, but global warming. I may be off base. The maps showed how parts of North American cities would no longer exist? It may have been in the environmental forum.

2. Yes, I think you're right...!
That it WAS about global warming. The conversation of course came up because of Katrina. Someone was posting showing how the coast of NOLA was completely non-existent on this map. :scared: Really scary stuff.

Which probably has you wondering, why on earth would I want to revisit such a thing? lol.

3. Are you thinking about the maps by
Lori (something) Toye and/or Gordon Michael Scallion?

4. Yes...
I think so! I just googled the second name you provided and found what I seem to recall seeing here. Weird though, because it's from 1998-20??. The one for 1998 doesn't really come close to our reality...

But yes, this was what I recalled! Thank you, Delphinus. :hi:

I wasn't aware of this:

when I created my original post on this topic.

What is going on with my mind, lately? My thoughts are not my own lately, if that makes any sense. ...

I read that post tonight too but still don't know what CO2 has to do with taxes. I may be in dense mode.

For your post #1 . Yes, NOLA is totally gone in that schematic. As well as Biloxi and Galveston, et al. But perhaps they will become the new coral reefs to replace the ones that GLOBAL WARMING is killing. What I hadn't considered is that there are high rises in those locations. Oil refineries in Galveston. I guess all that will be washed out to sea, just like NOLA.

The screens were a little dramatic, but not extremely. And the projection is that it take another 6-10 years, I believe. And projections are often wrong.

Why were you looking for it?

7. Honestly...
I've had global warming on the brain, and for some reason the memory of those maps popped in my head, and I wanted to see it again.

Weird, I know...

it claims that the lost continents will be visible in a few short years. I don't know how that figures when global warming means more water due to the melting, tsunamis and floods. How does that uncover land mass? It is all very speculative. Did anyone predict the ice age? Or any other? We are just guessing.

Some people have posted about David Icke here. I have read his book but been ashamed to admit it.
His theory is there is a warm spring coming from interior Earth which is warming the ocean waters.
I have no way to verify the validity of that theory. And the one engineering-tech guy I broached the sbuject with poo-poo'd. No way. Molten lava. The mainline accepted theory. But on the same account, I won't discard it just because it isn't a proven factor. I believe we, in the spiritual seeking world, are so much more scientific than skeptics who only put faith in what has already been 'proven'. Pythagoras would not survive in that group. I so much love that we are open to new things and continually ask questions.

8. Votes...
what he was saying is that he wants to eliminate the payroll taxes and REPLACE them with taxes on corporations that create a lot of CO2...therefore giving the corps incentive to NOT produce the CO2 as profusely as they are = helping the environs.
There follows some argument about what happens down the road when the corps comply and those taxes are seen as unnecessary/exorbitant, but I think the idea is more for shock value and to get ppl to think about the issue than to be actually applicable, at least up to a point.

I'm so glad I am not the one to figure out how to tax. I am still a smoker, though am giving serious consideration to changing that . and they get tons of taxes from cigarettes. I've heard of a few people who have quit due to the high prices, so that might explain why the prices continue to rise. If everyone quit the tobacco habit tomorrow, where would the revenue come from? They would find something else to tack on?

As applied to this situation, yeah, eventually everyone will quit putting CO2 out. Then what. I haven't given a lot of thought to taxes for quite some time. Just a hazard of living, ya know. But there does have to be a better way than chasing down one thing after the other. It seems I've read reasonable solutions to the issue. Maybe the US could become a big evangelical thing and people can send in money to get a blessed tissue. (my warped sense of humor) .. But mainstream does seem be willing to part with their greens when presented with a promise for what they want. That may be where taxes go wrong. We take for granted our strong roads and emergency personnel. I don't know why the police and sheriffs call to ask me for money to support small children. The system seems screwed from the beginning.
