1. Another vet trip. These must be some special kittens we have with us.
They are turning out great--very sweet and friendly. Totally housebroken by the second day indoors. I'm a bit worried about them since they don't have the greatest astrology (born under a Moon-Pluto opposition, I think.) So I am interested to note that they have their next vaccination on 11/11.

From King Arthur Flour

1 - MERCKENS WHITE CHOCOLATE BAR 2#
1 - MERCKENS MILK CHOCOLATE BAR 2#
2 - MERCKENS DARK (BITTERSWEET) CHOC BAR 2#

23. My girlfriend and I were talking about this last night.
We both feel we'll eat better (as in more nutritiously) once she's moved here, and taking advantage of my cooking/baking skills and cookbook collection :D

By the way, truffles are incredibly easy to make, and really only require three ingredients, with the third (cocoa) used only for a coating. The rest is simply melted chocolate and cream in a one-to-one ratio. The only drawback is that it's messy. I'm going to try to get my camera to take a series of shots automatically while I make them so y'all can see what it's like :)

25. I have some photos from a couple of years ago,
but only of the mostly finished products:

As you can see, the milk and white chocolates will be used primarily for coatings. Someone suggested using them as fillings, but I will have to experiment with that...

35. Gee...........
I shaped the truffle centers and then dipped them in Merkin Dark melted. But I also love to just dip, nuts, glazed pineapple, apricots, & pretzels in chocolate, dk mlk & white........... My favorite chocolate mint patties. Tastes like a different food group than any commercially made ones.
Oh I just noticed from King Arthur flour...Is that how you buy the ingredients? I used to have a shop with those supplies near e in NJ. Now I have to go all the way to Bangor 65 miles to get Merkin CHocolate.
Those were the days when the young ADULT KIDS USED TO COME FOR HOLIDAY DINNERS. NOW ALL MY FRIE NEDS ARE OLD WITH DIETARY RESTRICTIONS.......NO DIPPING FOR ME..............

15. I hope to be bringing my very lonely old horse to a barn
for the winter. A place that will have both a stall that she can go into in a storm and neighbor horses that she can interact with. Here she only has a lean to with a roof and sheep- no other horses. And it gets terribly muddy here at times. This place also has a long paddock so that she can walk around and the fencing appears safe. The feed seems good and I have been saving money and looking and looking for a place that she would be happy being in and that I could afford for such a long time now.

I am hoping that she will be happy there and that I will also get the courage to ride her a little bit more again myself.

It is a beginning of something special from my past. This horse came into my life when she was young, I sold her, but she was given back to me when she became lame. I have nursed her along for almost four years now but feeling very very terrible about her being the only horse here and also increasingly distressed about the muddy winters and the way the barn that I do have floods.

But it costs a lot of money to board a horse at a place....and so it has taken me a long time to figure out how to do it.

But tomorrow I hope to move her there. If not tomorrow, sometime over the weekend.

42. Oh my goodness- she thought that she went to heaven
and so did I. She has two geldings to nuzzle and interact with, one on each side of her. Right away the conversations began. She has a roomy wonderful stall with a hay rack UP OFF THE GROUND that has clean shavings.....oh heavens. She was so happy, she kept walking around going in and out of the stall and talking with the guys and she seemed to have forgotten all about me and humans entirely. She was just inhaling horse and filling herself up with the wonder of being with her own kind after so very long. I am so grateful that I sold enough yarn to be able to spring for this.

It was very hard for me to leave- you see I fuss over her all the time here...and I am clearly quite attached to her.

The young woman who transported her was thrilled as well - she said that her horses would be going nuts being in a new place, but our mare was just completely calm.

I was worried that she would behave strangely with the other horses, but no, she was just happy happy happy.

Thanks for asking Howler. I am so relieved that she is there safely and settling in. I will go tomorrow and see how she is doing first thing.

I am so grateful that finally I could do this for her.

and no worries on the lights. We are members of a rural co-op and they are sweet and will try to work with you before they resort to turning off the juice. SO I didn't lose a drop of light!

Their rates are real good, too.

Hope your saturday is wonderful. I'm gonna go help a disabled buddy, and hold my four-month-old adopted grandbaby, and play some git-fiddle and consider attending a porch party to see some musicians I've been missing. But it's kinda chilly so I'm thinking I may not want to take the guitar out. All my bangabout guitars are on loan...

Have a swell day Howler!!!!!

My next step is making the everything available for purchase through my website. My goal is to finish it this weekend, if all goes as planned!
