paradoxical injury--healing vibes please!
I hurt my left foot- a sprain. I have no idea how I did this. I went to the Urgent Care and nothing significant on xray and my uric acid levels are low so no gout-- so it has to be all soft tissue but it hurts like a Mofo. I wonder if it might be d/t stress, I did have a horrible week with my Mom sick etc. So I had to miss work this weekend which is a significant loss-- 24 hours of work/pay. Plus it is leaving my coworkers short on a weekend. I feel badly about it. So please send me some healing vibes. My next scheduled time is Tuesday and I want to be able to work.

1. sending vibes for you to feel better.
In Maryland today it is damp and cold because of the early snowstorm. My right ankle started acting up yesterday. Is it damp, cold and snowy where you area?

Arnica gel. I buy it at the Vitamin Shoppe (or GNC or Whole Foods if you have any of those). Arnica is a plant in the daisy family. It's totally safe and has been used for hundreds of years on bruises and muscle injuries. It brings blood to the location where it's applied, and promotes healing. The gel comes in a tube like toothpaste and is only used in tiny homeopathic amounts in the brand of gel I use.

My neighbor introduced me to it. It helps my sciatica, fibromyalgia pain, and my cranky ankle. He told my other neighbor who uses it for pain due to a severe neck injury.

Arnica should not be used on an open cut, scratch, etc. Here is a link to an article on arnica from the university of Maryland Medical Center.

7. Hi elleng
This is totally weird.
Snow falling on blooming roses and marigolds. Two days before Halloween.
I hope it clears up by tomorrow.

9. Hope so too, as have been 'harvesting' roses from foreclosed neighbors' houses
(and Burger King at Leisure World!)

4. It was damp, rainy/snowy/frozen rain on Thursday
Friday am was when it first felt painful/stiff. I think it was rainy yesterday too-- grey gloomy days.

I'll have to see if my husband is going back out for any arnica. Right now it is swollen and I'm taking naprosyn.

6. That's good too, reduces inflammation internally
Edited on Sat Oct-29-11 04:18 PM by LiberalEsto
are you raising it on pillows or anything?
applying heat and/or cold?
Cold will reduce swelling (bag of frozen peas wrapped in dishtowel 20 minutes).

Then heat.

If it does not get better, see about getting an xray for possible stress fracture, though I hope it's NOT.
Visualizing your ankle clearing up, swelling going away.

12. Thanks
I have been putting ice on my big toe/toe joint all day. I have had xrays and no fx but I have been having some unbelievable pain this evening. Finally I relented and dipped into the box of emergency medicine I have for something a bit stronger and it is helping -- bringing my writhing 9/10 pain to 7/10.

15. No, uric acid levels were very low on my blood tests.
but thanks. Today it is a little better. Last night it was excruciating pain-- seems to get worse at night. I resorted to 2 extra pain pills (spaced 6 hours apart). Once I fell asleep I slept pretty well though.
