I knew someone like that. They're a real drain to be around. Eventually I cut all ties after her ire was directed at me during an especially rough spot in life. Ended a lot of needless drama for the effort.
1. Look for a lesson for myself in the circumstances - I almost always find one. 2. Send her all the energy and love I can 3. Protect my energy 4. Gently point it out to her - as an observation, not a criticism
IMO people often don't recognize that we drag people down. Some people vent to someone they feel is strong enough to handle it, without realizing that their constant negativity is doing damage to the person they love and trust.
