what I went through that year I had all of these bizarre recurring dreams about Bradley Whitford. That was a bizarre, confusing time--unlike you, I almost never have dreams about celebrities and BW was showing up in my dreams so often, I was sure there was a real significance there--took me forever to figure out what was up. I used to joke that Brad was "dream-stalking" me. The weirdest thing about that series of dreams was: I have no strong opinion about the work, personal life, or physical appearance of Bradley Whitford. I don't hate his career acheivements or anything, but in my opinion, he's nothing special as an actor and I don't find him attractive. I could not figure out what was going on for the longest time and it was frustrating. I feel your conflict.
Here's where I point out that figuring out the subconscious significance of a celebrity dream appearance can be a daunting task--almost not worth pursuing, some might say. The media's representation of any working celeb, in order to market each one to his/her audience in a specific, almost entirely artificial sense, is a large part of what makes this difficult. Who knows what about the way an individual celebrity was marketed by t.v., film, print or broadcast media has gotten stuck in your brain--much of the marketing is designed to play on subconscious desires and fears to begin with, so sorting out what your subconscious has done with those subtle messages can be extremely difficult. Especially if your dreams are not about any fictional characters these celebrities play, but the individuals themselves (or what you perceive them to be--the "real lives" of the world's staaaahrs are also a meticulously constructed publicity mirage).
The best suggestion I can give you is to figure out what about these recurring figures appeals to you consciously in your waking life, and see if that matches up with how they're represented in your dreams. If it doesn't, see if you can figure out what might have appealed to you subconsciously about that celebrity while awake, and compare that to how the celebrity functioned in your dreams.
I'd feel weird trying to tell you precisely why this is happening with which actors because--ultimately, I think the answers are probably pretty complex, considering the role the layers of mass media play in marketing celebs to us, and only you will really know what's going on with these dreams. However, here's a reason I ultimately decided I was absolutely plauged by sex dreams about Brad Whitford:
--Though I was not able to identify anything about the actor or any character he'd played that I found attractive in an overall sense, eventually, while watching an old rerun of "The West Wing," I noticed that there's a delicate, sensitive, almost feminine way Whitford portrayed his character on that series, which is most intriguing in his scenes when he is being friendly and supportive with other male characters. It's a subtle effect he probably really had to work to achieve and really only comes through via the editing. I think my "attraction" to BW in a subconscious sense was about wanting the men in my life at the time to treat me with the same sensitivity they used with their male companions, and the sensitivity I got from female acquaintances. (There were a couple of other things, but you'd have to PM me to get them.) It was only a year after I'd stopped having the dreams that I figured this out, though, as buried as the explanation was beneath piles and piles of media magic, subterfuge and myth. It might not even be worth it for you to try to pin down exactly what's going on. The phenomenon will probably stop eventually.
