Some of you are old enough to remember Jack Benny and how he could do NOTHING and be hilarious.

I did something stupid. I ate some chopped beef bar-b-Q and diluted it with mayonnaise thinking that it would not bother me.

I was wrong. I am allergic to tomatoes and for the past two days I have been really feeling bad and paying for it. Guess that means I will have to never eat them again. I knew this, I just tried to cheat.

Sat. I dragged myself to the grocery store even though I felt bad, because we needed to get our food. That's 20 miles to the Kroger.

Thanks again for your kind wishes. Now if my allergies would clear up,since it's springtime here in East Texas, that would help.

On the BBQ sauce, I'm guessing this was pre-made, because you could always make your own sauce. Instead of tomatoes, use roasted peppers (red peppers, ancho, chipotle) and whatever spices you like :)

Also, I've had success with quercetin supplement for allergies. It's pretty amazing as a natural anti-histamine. I get mine at Whole Foods, but you can probably order it online, too. This site seems pretty extensive in its information, though there are the ads for supplement pills interrupting it every now and then ;)

27. Sorry I can't eat peppers. Tomato allergy is also deadly nightshade allergy.

a bit of black pepper is ok but that's different.

Deadly nightshade allergy (belladonna) includes eggplant (which I think is gross), tobacco, bell peppers, red peppers etc.
Me and spicy do not get along.

25. Wednesday update. I feel good enough to cook!!!

Feeling much better. I think I ate the Tomatoes of Death on Thursday or Friday.

Tonight me and my sweetie made French Onion Soup.

Raw onions are the Burpage of Horror to me but cooked, I LOVE THEM! Sauteed in butter!!

Got some yellow onions, beef broth, Texas toast (that's like big slabs o'garlic bread) and Swiss cheese on the bread. Saute onions in butter, add a couple cans of beef broth, a bit of Worcestershire sauce, thyme, bay leaves, a whisper of sea salt. Toasted the bread in the oven on a cookie sheet, then broiled the chiz on top of that. Dunk slab o'bread into soup. Yummy!

Took a long time to cook but it was goooooood. :bounce:

DH said it was really good. And he eats gumbo, spicy stuff, shellfish and all kinds of things I can't even look at. I have to live on fairly bland stuff.

Even planted some petunias for new bedding plants this evening to replace the rapidly wilting pansies.
