Gratitude with a twist...what would you miss the most?
It's a fun game ...try it!

So the world has shifted and things are in flux and civilization as we know it is pretty much totaled...

what would you miss the most?

add to your list as things come up for you, as you walk through your day, realize what little things we take for granted...

- like my favorite Burger Dive

- hot water on demand

- the telephone

what's yours?

5. I find this a really provocative question
My family, my memories, my health, my friends.

In Michigan, although it's not exactly the zombie apocalypse, things have been going missing for quite a few years. I have kept a mental list of favorite shops, restaurants, etc., places full of memories for me, that have gone under. At first I was extraordinarily sad, but as the years went by and more and more favorite places closed, I became a bit numb to it. I went from "Oh, no, they can't close!" to "Oh, they're closed, huh? Oh, well."

The result of this sort of economic dermabrasion is that you figure out what's really important, what you really miss, what you really couldn't get by without.

Come the zombie apocalypse, if I can keep my family around me, keep my head, keep moving and breathing, and keep some friends, I will be okay.

6. I second the fans
The other thing would be my king-size bed with two feather tops. And my feather pillows. As I sink into bed at night, I think about how grateful I am for this bed, its location, and its other occupant. :)

7. Heat.
Hot water on demand.

A roof over my head.

Easy ways to cook.

Toilet paper (as someone else mentioned), as well as indoor plumbing.

9. Electricity for sure
We just had an ice storm and loosing it was a great fear. We lost it for a while in the dreaded ice storm of 2003 and I will never forget that helplessness. And I almost ruined my taste for my beloved buckwheat waffles by cooking them in the fireplace - NASTY TASTE.

10. we had an outage for 6 days a few year ago
I had pots and skillets on top of the woodstove, the kids were fascinated that i could *do* that!

my dad bought property when i was a kid and we had no electricity there ofr a couple years... it was interesting how your body rythym changes with the absence of artificial light. we'd be in bed by 7, and up by 7...but it was nice trying to do puzzles by candlelight, too. good memories.

as much as i will miss that essential, the lack of noise and distraction could be a welcome shift also.

11. Good question.
It's really hard to say, but I think I would miss a warm and safe place to sleep the most. Next, hot water for bathing and electricity for cooking. And plentiful food and water. If we really have "zombie apocalypse" or whatever, I am really not sure I want to be one of the last ones standing. :)
