The Allegory of the Chilean Mine Disaster
(A friend shared this and thought you all would appreciate it, and I agree :) )

The Allegory of the Chilean Mine Disaster

On August 5, 2010, the day of the mine disaster in Chile, there were 11 Astrological lines of tension in effect, 6 oppositions and 5 squares.

On October 13, 2010, the day of the final rescue there were only two.

What we witnessed in Chile is an allegory for what the whole world is about to go through in the years ahead.

All of the tense difficult aspects on August 5th were aligned in a ‘t-square’, the squares in tension with both ends of the oppositions. The apex of this t-square was Pluto in Capricorn. Those of you familiar with my book, The Astrological Karma of the USA, and previous newsletters know that in 2004 I used Pluto’s entry into Capricorn in 2008 to predict the likelihood of a global economic crisis. The deeper lesson behind this is the likelihood that Pluto in Capricorn would force humanity to look into all the ways in which we are over identified with material, financial reality for our security and our identity.

Mankind’s materialistic greed and lust for financial attainment has led him to dig and drill into our Mother Earth to scavenge the non-renewable resources there, often lacking sufficient conscience or concern for the safety of the humans involved, the environmental impact, or the legacy of resources remaining available for future generations.

This kind of enterprise got these 33 miners into quite a pickle. This same type of global enterprise, however, is getting the whole population of humanity into quite a pickle. I believe this will be especially apparent between the years of 2011 and 2015 when Uranus, the planet of sudden change and rupture, will square Pluto in Capricorn for a total of 7 times.

The allegorical lesson from the mining disaster in Chile is that we will need to really embrace our humanity into a common purpose, give support to appropriate leaders, don’t panic, and working together as brothers and sisters we will be able to extricate ourselves from the danger of self-annihilation.

And, on the other side of all of that tension, we will know that we will have to do things differently, and that true love and concern for each other’s well being is what is really important.

Blessings,
Steffan Vanel
