I'm coming at you using Dragon NaturallySpeaking. It's taking some effort to get used to dictating what I have to write down. But it is not as hard as I thought it would be. I communicate better in writing then I do speaking -- I just don't think well on my feet. Surprisingly, dictation is much more like the mental processes of writing. It's not at all like speech.
On another note, I'm able to do some jewelry work. I can't do a lot of wire work, but I can string beads, deal with jump rings, and spin the occasional loop for an earring. I made a blue sodalite mala, a gorgeous 99 bead amber misbaha, and I'm nearly done with a 33 bead misbaha. Later today I'm going to try to see if I can play with fire (solder pinbacks onto metal endless knots).
The bad news is that I can't afford the injections that would stop Peri from having any more eggs. The series of Luprin injections would cost about $750. On top of the roughly $1000 spent last year and the approximately $800 for this recent incident, well, there just isn't the money. We'll have to try other things, like light restriction, even though light restriction has been difficult with her because she has some birdie PTSD around darkness. I could try to double down on her Avi-calm (a theanine supplement) to see if that would let her tolerate a little more darkness.
So beware! At least during the day (when Peri is awake) I can now chatter away and post again to my heart's content :)
Ohhh! I did manage to capture one of Peri's tantrums on my iPod. The audio isn't great given that it was recorded from the bathroom as I brushed my teeth (Peri was in the bedroom), and it was of course sung in a thick parrot accent. The lyrics are approximately "fuck fuck fuck fuck... fuck... squawk! up yours fuck you up yours fuck you (etc)".
