Called an Isis pendulum. Interesting design--looks like it was based on the djed pillar in Egyptian art (http://www.pyramidofman.com/Djed/), so I couldn't resist.

On edit: found piccie

3. cool!
You know how to use it, right?

Besides getting yes no answers, you can use it to charge water. Just put it over the water, force it into a yes motion, and think love and other good thoughts. You can do it without the pendulum, but the pendulum magnifies it.

I like the looks of it. Have fun :hi:

5. I've only ever used one for divination
But charging sounds cool too. I guess this type of pendulum is supposed to be good for that (maybe why I chose it--or it chose me--?)

4. You could try naming and baptizing it.
I do that with my divination tools.

6. Oh yes
One thing I did learn many years ago when I was a litte witchling n00b--never make a move till your tools are "cleaned" and blessed--and in so doing you make friends with them and align your energies. :D

7. AHHHHHHHHHHH!
Thats a gorgeous pendulum MorningGlow!!!!!!!!

I have a tuning fork that is the OM pitch. Do I still need to clear my crystals with sea salt water and sunlight or can I just clear them with the sound of OM from the tuning fork?

8. Thanks, Howler!
I'm excited. I haven't bought a new tool in so very long.

A tuning fork pitched to OM?! WANT!!!!! :D That could imbue your crystals with some wonderful energy!

I don't see why you couldn't use your tuning fork if you focus the intent of the tone to cleanse whatever you want cleansed. I used to use sea salt water and sunlight for all my items, but more often than not these days I just use my own energy in a reiki-like way.

9. it will also pedal out your chakras!
LOL! when i first got it I played with it till my gums literally went numb and my ears just kept right on humming long after I put the tuning fork away.Snort! I always overdue it.

This link has pretty reasonable rates for tuning forks.

MorningGLow Thanks for the advice on clearing the crystals 3 days without them as they are soaking in the water and the sun/moon is just to long to wait with all the healing that this planet needs right now.

13. I usually tip generously
but not this time :P

That's a very nice pendulum, too. Is it very heavy?

I know next to nothing about using a pendulum. I do have a little purple amethyst crystal wrapped up in silver wire and on a piece of thread.
Now what do I do with it?

16. I'll have to improve my customer service, then
:P

It is pretty heavy, actually, but not so heavy that it would start to bother my wrist if I used it for any length of time. There was also a mini version of this one--so cute, about 1 1/2" long. My friend (the shopowner) said that people use that one "on the move", taking it along with them in a pocket or purse. I almost bought that one, but then I realized that I'd usually only use it at home, so I bought the bigger one and left the small one for someone who needed to be mobile.

Interesting--I tested pretty much all the pendulums at the shop, including an amethyst one. Usually amethyst and I get on like a house afire, but the amethyst pendulum just sat there--no positive response at all--so I moved on.

As for what to do with it, why not start with simple yes/no questions? If it swings one way, that's yes; the other way, that's no (you determine which is which beforehand). Or if the pendulum swings in a line, that's yes (or no) and if it goes in a circle, that's no (or yes). I feel that yes/no questions are a simple way to get comfortable with the pendulum's energy and hone your skills. That's where I'm starting, anyway! :)

17. Okay, thanks!
I knew there was something about "yes/no" but didn't know if it was a set way or self-defined. I'll have to play with it, if I can think of what to ask ;)

14. I loooooove my pendulums.
I think the most important thing is to "learn" your pendulum's individual habits and quirks. Does it lean a little more to the left or the right? Does it swing more quickly or slowly before "settling" on an answer? Bend your will to the pendulum not the pendulum to your will.

18. If ANYONE wants to talk to an EXPERT on pendulums
let me recommend Tod Foster here in Pittsburgh. He's just incredible about the whole subject:

19. Must be something in the air
I just had to purchase a new one as well. One of the cats knocked my old one out of my hand while I was working on her (guess she thought I wanted to play), and it flew across the room and broke into 3 pieces.

This new one I have is hematite. Very cool.

Anyway, does anyone know if it can be charged by wearing over my heart chakra? I really don't have the time to immerse in sea salt for days.

Thanks
