Seems like big bad black kitty hasn't learned his karma lesson.
We had some drama yesterday, when the neighbor's pitt bull breeched our fence. Big bad black kitty was sunning himself at the top of the stairs to my trailer. I heard some dog growling and I knew it wasn't one of the family dogs. I got to the door in time to see kitty flying down the slope with the pitt bull behind him. I of course started screaming. Family was in the front pasture working and caught the dog. The owner came over to because he heard me screaming and an argument ensued between my son-in-law and the neighbor about keeping his dog in his yard. It turns out his fence also has a breeches and Peaches, the dog, took advantage of both fence breeches to indulge in her passion of chasing cats. In the meantime, no kitty. I found him in the house, under the bed. He had entered the house through the door I had left open when I ran after him and the dog.

He wasn't hurt, just scared and he stayed in the house until this morning and demanded to go out. It seems he had forgotten what happened yesterday. Well, Peaches goes to doggy day care during the week when her owner is working so I wasn't worried. However, I was sitting eating my breakfast and I look out the window of my trailer that faces the neighbor's pasture behind my house. There is a mule deer doe eating grass in the pasture and then I see big bad black kitty stalking the deer. Wow! I'm thinking he thinks it's the biggest mouse he's ever seen. The deer finally suddenly leaps and takes off across the fields and big bad black kitty leaps up in the air trying to grab the deer, but the deer is too quick.

Although kitty got a quick lesson in the fact that he too could be prey instead of just the predator, the lesson in karma seems not to have sunk in. A deer? He seems to have no idea that he's only twelve pounds of kitty.

2. That was funny!
I can just imagine it, as I have a big black kitty, too :D
I don't think mine would do anything but run away, even from a deer. If there's an insect inside the apartment, he merely sits down, staring at it until I take it away

3. Big bad black kitty lives here as well
He's a funny guy. Will chase the neighbor's german shepherd out of the yard, but hides when I get out the vacuum cleaner.

4. Big mousie!
Our "killer kitteh" used to do the same thing when we lived out in the woods. Deer used to come into our back yard regularly, and she would sit in the back living room window and twitch and make little eager clicking noises, just DYING to get at the big mouse (or, as we put it in the MG household, "da giant moosie").

They are funny critters, aren't they? So glad Big Bad Black Kitteh didn't get hurt by the overeager goggie. :hi:

7. This reminds me of my Jezebel.
She was something else, for sure. So loving, protective, and territorial. I saw her chase down and attack an innocent (yes) dog one day a few weeks after she had a litter of kittens in my apartment. That poor pooch. I apologized to his owner, who was jogging by with the dog at the time of the attack, and explained that J was probably protecting her babes inside my apartment.

She used to follow me every time I took out the garbage to the dumpster in the parking lot, circling my feet. One night, we were spooked by a dumpster diver rummaging for end-of-semester treasures, and she hissed and would not leave my ankles.

Years later, she met her untimely end when she was attacked and killed by a pack of stray/loose dogs roaming our neighborhood one night.

I hope your neighbor does something soon about the breach in the fence. A brave cat is a good companion.
