Good news!

The nest is just beginning... the buzzing of her wings when she comes and goes is amazing. I don't remember hearing it this loudly or distinctly before.

Here's hoping Phoebe is successful this time around!

2. the lights are STILL on out there and she's been busy!
First time I checked her today, and the nest is twice - maybe more than twice, the size it was yesterday! Go Phoebe!

This nest is higher (about 7.5 feet they posted), and it has been really swaying in the wind...

guess I have to pay more attention! Timing is EVERYTHING!

JUST SAW THEM!!! Utterly amazing to me that when I have the url open I can hear a hummingbird 3000 miles away, humming and flitting back and forth to her nest!

This birdie is REALLY MOVING!

7. Oh, she's so beautiful right now!
It's late in the day. She is sitting very quietly on her nest. I've never seen her this calm and still - I'm watching her breathe and blink occasionally. A very slight breeze...

She's my therapy right now. Bless you and thank you, Phoebe.

10. I seem to remember reading it's in the same bush, but I'm not sure
This was taken Apr. 13 before she started the current nest. It shows previous nests where she had babies.

This is Phoebe sitting on her nest yesterday.

12. I enjoy checking in once a day or so.
I had a hummingbird that regularly nested in the eaves in my garage when I was in so cal; I had to leave the door open for her until the babies fledged. ;)

32. More drama and hardship for the little hummingbird family
On Friday May 28, a predator (they think a crow) buzzed the nest, knocking the cam, and both babies out of the nest. The host found one baby, Hoku, on the ground and returned him/her to the nest. Hope has never been found. Phoebe wasn't there when the predator attacked, but she is back at the nest and caring for Hoku.

video of predator/crow attack: http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/7270068

video of Hoku rescue and Phoebe's return: http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/7273111

I hope Hoku makes it through to fledging/flying on his own!
