1. i do a lot of I Ching, but this sounds like a nebulous answer to a nebulous question...

sometimes the I Ching will do that (or pick particularly insulting lines) when it feels it is not being used properly. it could also be the translation you are using. i find that the closer you stick to the Chinese loose syntactical structure (almost like Emile Zola's attempts at free verse poetry), the more fluid and useful it is.

also, no changing lines? what numbered hexagram (read lines bottom to top)? that way we can check various other interpretive traditions: nuclear trigrams, counter indications, image tradition, sequential tradition, etc.

I tend to make my querys as simple as possible. I also try to use several differant translations when it comes to Chinese writings.The one I posted was used because it happened to be the last translation I used to check my casting.It could easily have been any of the other available translations.
