huge white/gold-breasted raven in my pasture this morning
At first I thought it must the the morning sun reflecting off gleaming feathers, but as I walked around to look from different angles, it became clear its entire breast and underbelly were mottled white and gold.

Then I thought it must be a raptor, and that the caws I could hear came from a nearby bird. But there was no other bird nearby, and I could see from its profile that it had the head and beak of a raven, not a raptor.

I know someone wrote in here about white crows before....now I have seen one on top of a tree in my pasture. Wow. Simply wow. I didn't read that thread back then...now I'll have to check it out.

Also, I dreamed of bobcats last night. I didn't see them from 5 different angles. But there were 5 bobcats, with long winter coats, hanging around my dream.

1. Ooooohhhhhh............

How magickal, northernlights!!!!

I'm the one who saw the white crow, and I'm fascinated by the messages from the animal kingdom -- in dreamtime and otherwise.

My goodness, what a wonderful gift for you this morning!!!

I'll look up bobcat wisdom now as you search for that old thread. :)

2. Bobcat...

Bobcat's Wisdom Includes:

* Clear vision in dark places
* Vigilance
* Suspicion
* Seeking ancient mystical mysteries
* Ability to live in solitude
* Ability to see through masks

This is one of my favorite sites for looking up totems.

Five has always been my personal magickal number; 9 is my life path number, but for some reason five always has had a special significance -- special messages -- for me.

3. thans, OGR! I forgot about that link and another one I'd saved...
Raven:
Magic, Healing, Creation

If a raven totem has come into our life,
magic is at play.
Raven activates the energy of magic
and links it to our will and intention.

With this totem, we can make great changes
in our life;
the ability to take the unformed thought
and make it reality.

The raven shows us how to go into the dark
of our inner self and bring out the light of our true self;
resolving inner conflicts which have long been buried.
This is the deepest power of healing we can possess.

http://www.linsdomain.com/totems/pages/raven.htm

And bobcat:
People with a Bobcat totem are often solitary like their totem animal.
Coming to terms with that, learning to be alone
without being lonely is part of what the Bobcat can teach.
However, you must be careful not become a recluse.
Learn when to be social and when you need alone-time.

Bobcat people often become keeper of secrets
and they must learn never to break their silence and friend’s confidences.
If trust is broken, things will be distorted and blown out of proportion.
Keep the secret -- maintain the silence -- honor the trust given.

Bobcats have the ability to turn on and off creative forces.
Bobcat magic uses darkness and secrecy;
be silent about your magic and power –
don’t broadcast what you can do to everyone. Speaking of it dissipates the power.
You must learn when to speak, how much to say, and what to share with others.
This is essential.

Bobcat people are night people.
They also can have psychometry (the ability to sense an object) and/or clairaudience.
Trust in your senses.
Even if there is no logical reason, trust what your inner voice is saying.
Bobcat people can see what is hidden -- and this ability
can make some people uncomfortable around a Bobcat person.

4. Going into the LIGHT :)
cool...I didn't know that they *could* be white...and I thought I knew alot about Ravens!

One thing that jumped out at me is that the Black raven is associated with magic and "going into the darkness to bring something forth"...what if the White raven is more associated with Spirit and going into the LIGHT in order to bring wisom and knowledge forth?

cool

here's a native American story about white & black raven...interesting symbolism too...

5. cool pic and thanx for story...
the one I saw was not pure white, only the breast and underbelly, which were either white, or gold, and mottled-looking. In fact at first I figured it was a chicken hawk, except I had looked that way because of the caw. The rest of him/her was black.

what a gift...to be reminded you can walk between both worlds and hold the wisdom of both. You have a spirit totem there for sure!

7. ALL white or albino animals etc...are Wakan/Sacred
to the Earth Mother.
As to the bobcats...if you saw them in 4 different ways...far away, close up, sideways etc then that is your totem. They may come back again three more times and that also would be your sign they are your totem.

8. the raven is not albino or all white
Unlike FL's pic, which is an albino, the raven I saw this morning had only white/gold breast and underbelly. The rest of what I could see was black. The profile and the "caw" made it clear, though, that this was a raven...

I saw the bobcats in many different positions. The first approached me, so I saw it coming, up close, turning, going and joining the others. And then they all went by. So I saw them from many angles.

A cougar appeared later -- close up looking at me through a window -- but I was afraid and stayed very still until it left. The door was ajar-- yikes....

10. The raven is interesting indeed......
and I am not clear of what to make of it...
However it is clear then that the bobcat has chosen you. :) congratulations.
When we find out what our Totem is...it is time to study its ways closely and find the lessons it has to teach us.
For examply...one of my totems is Bear...and bear is the teacher of herbs/ways of medicine for healing. Bear is happy in solitude and protector of the young (momma bear is anyways :P)
Another of my totems is deer and deer is innocent trust along with moving quietly and nimbly.
Those are all attributes I work on.

Here are some bobcat totem information that is much the same as what I was told by Grandmother Thunderbuffalo.
Both of these sites are good for information on bobcats but if a bobcat truly is your totem...I am sure you will seek out more on your own :)

11. That is so interesting.....

I think a message/confirmation for you?

Earlier, when you simply mentioned the raven and bobcat, I was drawn to look at something that came in the mail earlier...as I thought it was an image of a bobcat. I had you very much in mind as I searched for the postcard.

It wasn't a bobcat, so I disregarded. Until I just read this post.

It was a cougar. :)

14. Oh my! Do you have photographs? I love yurts. How well does
it do in the cold. Does the wood stove keep it toasty, or, as toasty as you like? That is so exciting. Congrats.

13. Excellent, NL!
I love dreaming of totem animals.

Raven is a noble creature, and I agree with the other posts on this thread that the white and black together (and gold--very nice) indicate a meeting of the worlds, a blending of the dichotomy. :applause:
