Best familyfest ever
Not relevant to the ASAH topic, but I'd love to share our wonderful day with you.

Yesterday, we had the best Familyfest ever.We take our family name and put fest after it. For privacy reasons I use the word family here. My parents both have birthdays in October so we began having this family celebration a number of years ago.

My brothers, one down from Bellingham with his wife and daughter, my +70 and +80 year old mother and father, my husband and I, all four of my daughters, their husbands and all of the great grandchildren were in attendance.

We had breakfast together, some family members came in after a morning hunting. One son-in-law, my brothers wife and daughter each got a deer. They will all have meat in the freezer this year. So they had breakfast later than the rest of us.

I had typed up some questions and threw them in a bowl for an intergenerational activity. Some were personal, some general, some oriented to our family. What country did XXXXX family come from? Who in the XXXXX family is the best story teller? Etc. That sort of thing. Everyone had a lot of fun with that. One of the youngest members said she had a question she wanted to ask, "who was the first president in the White House?" A trick question to which SHE knew the answer. This from a first grader!

No formal lunch but plenty of food was set out for grazing.

We played "Frogs in the Bog" and "Flippin Frogs". Much hilarity ensued. I have collected a few "frog" games because our home is called Froghaven. I was accused of practicing flippin frogs in my spare time because I was the big time winner in flipping my frogs into a revolving palm tree. (Everyone knows I spend all my "spare" time on DU.)

Later in the afternoon there was pumpkin carving. Two of my grands ended up cutting themselves (only bandaids needed) and their mother joked that they now had blood, sweat and tears into their jack-o-lanterns.

More games were played. All kinds.

Yummy chicken soup and split pea soup were for dinner.

Then I baked up the big soft ginger cookie dough I had chilled all day, because if you don't chill it, it's really sticky. Heck, it's sticky even if you do!

I made orange and white cream cheese frosting and we decorated cookies with all kinds of licorice, for Halloween.

We got some great pics and one special pic of my mom sitting on my dad's lap watching all of us in our silliness. Best picture ever.

My dad thanked me for planning such a great day.

If anyone knows how to put pictures up I would (if anyone wants to see).

1. What a lovely sounding day, Bonnie!
These are memories that your entire family will remember for the rest of your lives, especially your grandchildren.

I would love to see pictures. :) I'd be happy to help you to get the pictures up so that you can show them. If you'd like to do this in Photobucket, please PM me. Do you have a Photobucket account? If not, you'll want to create one (it's free) using another name such as BonzaiBonnie rather than your real name (otherwise people can look at the picture's location and get your name.) I don't know any of the other image sites other than Photobucket.

2. oh, fabulous
It made me want to crash the party, even though I know nothing about flippin' frogs!!

I'd love to see the pictures. Like Dream said, you can start a free account on Photobucket, and upload them. Below each picture is a different url that you can copy and paste to DU.

You can also email them to your family members that way.
