1. fleas?
I think if they ingest fleas that are infected, they can get worms.

3. Any number of ways.
Contact with an animal that has worms (including a mouse or rat, or feces of same), contact with you after you've been in contact with an infected animal, fleas (though you say there are no fleas in your area), or, if he/she is just a kitten, they're usually born with them and need to be dewormed.

4. I asked this question of my vet
when my indoor kitties got fleas. Her answer was that I was the transport for the fleas my cats got. I remember petting an outside cat I knew briefly. This was enough of a transport.

So were you in contact with any animal other than your own in the last month? That is where the fleas came from.

Just curious to know how your kitty got worms. All I can think of is maybe she got to some raw meat?
