Who else bathes your cat?
i do about every 3 weeks or so, mainly because it keeps his coat shiny, but also to help with the shedding... ((ok, and i like the smell of a shampooed cat when he sits on my face in the morning))

but am i in the minority?

who else does and how does your cat handle it?

nikko makes no noise but he clamors to get out of the sink, and usually takes some of my skin with him...

i always think he'll be pissed with me, but afterwards, he always comes and sits by me and dries himself.

here he his tonight, right after his bath, and not a happy cat.

1. Mine cries.
Only a little. But she doesn't fight. I grab her
front paws and have to hold them tight or she's outta
there. She lays in the sink and let's me finish
shampooing her, and once I let go of the paws. then
it's streak kitty. She's gone.

3. Sure, take it. I stole it from another Dean person here.
I don't remember who.

I probably bathe her about once every three months.
Usually when she starts pulling out clumps of hair
from her flea allergy.

4. I cheated a bit
I started bathing both my kitties when they were babies and I even use the hair dryer on low to dry them.

They have long hair and when they were little they would get litter stuck on their behinds so instead of pulling the fur and trying to get it all out (cause they share my bed) I just put them in warm baths.

They will meow a bit but I have gotten pretty fast at doing it and I prepare so by the time they realize what's going on, I'm halfway done.

5. I don't wash the whole cat
but I have been known to take a washcloth to the hind end now and then.

6. I take a "kitty wipie" to him weekly
One of my friends is very allergic to cats, even though she loves them. For me to take him to her house, I have to take a kitty wipie to his fur (Allergy Relief from Cats) to dissolve the dander.

7. I wash my boys twice a year during change of seasons
Spring and fall, to get rid of excess hair and dander. They are both very cooperative. Oh yeah, they piss and moan a little bit, but they hold still and let me lather them up, etc.

I find it increasingly necessary with my older cat who is so fat, he cannot reach to properly clean his poop chute any more. Beats having cat doo rubbed on things.

Origins makes a wonderful shampoo with Lavender, they tolerate it well, and they smell scrumptious afterwards. Yeah, I like the smell of fresh cat on my face in the morning too. ;)

9. I do
Manilla doesn't mind so much, but Morty hates it. I try to give them a bath every few months or so. I enjoy the smell of a freshly-washed kitty, especially when they insist on sleeping by my head.

10. I used to
My kitty passed away a few years ago, but I used to wash her quite often. It was the fleas. I didn't like using all those sprays and powders, etc. and we lived in Florida, which is full of fleas. So I gave her a flea-bath weekly. Also, we lived with my mom for awhile and she's allergic to cats. We had read that bathing them would help, and sure enough, Mom never had a problem. I even used to dry the cat with the hair dryer because it took her so long to dry without it. She only just put up with the bath, but she loved getting her fur dried with the dryer.

11. see i WISH nikko would let me
use the hairdryer on him... when i turn it on, he's out the door...

so i towel dry him as best i can, and he pretty much licks himself dry, shivering in the meantime...

I'm sure if I hadn't started when she was a tiny kitten, she would have been the same.

:hi:

i found him a little sister today at the humane society that i'm seriously considering adopting... she literally looks like his twin (minus the white speck), but their personalities are total opposite... he's hyper and playful, she's laid back and calm...

12. My little ones don't mind the bath but they hate getting dried off ....
with a towel. It's a problem because I imagine they could catch a cold of something if they aren't dried off.

16. That's one patient kitty!
I wish I could; Miro is like a greased pig when he gets wet-he's so fat that there's nothing to grab on to. Puck would probably cut me to ribbons. Oberon is just too damn big-his claws are HUGE, and I just wouldn't want to try it. It's a pity, because he really needs a bath!

20. Cleopestra gets a bath every 7-10 days
She has a skin problem which I've been able to treat successfully with tea tree oil soap. She hated it at first... but now she just sits and enjoys. (I think she understands that it keeps her skin from getting sores.)

I wash the other cats only as they need it... like if they get stinky, have an accident or have gotten themselves especially dirty. LOL! All of our cats adore being brushed.

21. My friend has a black manx that is just wacky. If you turn on the shower
he is right there, even if you do it three times a day. He is a god, that one.
