I lost my Neapolitan Mastiff Tues. morning...
and I can barely function. It was totally unexpected. He died with his head in my lap. I miss him so much I don't know what to do. Over the years i've had many dogs (over 20) but I don't think Iv'e been this attached to any of them. He had such a huge heart. He was always with me. That's all he ever wanted. Oh god, how am I going to get through this?

6. My deepest condolences.
I know it is hard to lose a beloved pet. They are like our children. But I am sure your doggie had a very happy life with you. That's why I spoil my pets. They have such short lives, so we should try to make their lives as happy as possible while they are with us. Believe me, you will come through this just fine.

I lost a dog in 1999. She was my baby and it was a sudden death because of a blood immune deficiency disease. But she died in her sleep, which I can be thankful for since she didn't suffer. I'm sure your baby didn't suffer with any pain either if he passed on so suddenly.

8. I am so sorry!
Pets are such an important part of our lives and we miss them terribly when they leave. I hope that with time, your pain will ease and that you will be able to cherish the time and special bond you had with him.

I am at a total loss as to what to say. This pain runs so deep, these friends touch us in so many ways.

I sent you a pm...

Hang in there sweety... your friend is still with you, just not physically, but he feels your love and sorrow and I'm sure he wants you to smile.

but I am glad that your boy died with the person who loved him the most in this world and he didn't suffer - we should all be so lucky. You will get through this one day (or moment) at a time. You gave him a wonderful life!! What do you think happened to him?

17. My condolences
We had to let our 13 year old golden retriever go on Tuesday, also. They thought a third night in the hospital would fix her up, but I got the terrible call from the vet on Tuesday morning. You better come in. There is nothing we can do for her. I'm grieving. I never had a dog before.

Here she was on our vacation to Canada in 1999. We took her everywhere. She pulled the dog lovers over to see her like a magnet.

19. She did that "cocked head" thing when you asked her a question
...and I caught that look in that photograph. She would signal people that she wanted them to pet her by coming up to them and dunking her head down and up. I remember calling the staff when we had her boarded at the vet and the woman said "she's so sweet, she lets you know when she wants petted".

22. You are in my thoughts.
I know how hard it is to lose a pet that you are so incredibly attached to. Let yourself grieve. You will get through it, just remember it might take time. The pain will subside, and you will remember what a great life he had with you.

25. I am so sorry, honey. I know how you feel. I lost my baby, Tippy,
who is in the pictures below three weeks ago. I thought I would die. But you will survive this. It takes time. I can almost think of my baby now without falling apart. Grieve. Go ahead and bawl your eyes out. My baby only wanted to be with me and that is how he got his blood clot, jumping off a bed to follow me. I cry and cry but some days it gets better. I am enveloping you with love and the memory of your dog too. Put his picture in your sig line. It helps to see him when you write. I have Tippy on my desktop. PM me if you need to wail. I know how you feel. Hugs and much love and sadness for you tonight.

32. So sorry about Tippy. Tears and time....That is the only thing that
seems to help the pain a little. I spent days crying when I lost each of my last two dogs.....It never gets easier.

28. I'm so sorry
How sad. Don't be hard on yourself. Take the time to cry it out, you are grieving and it takes time to work through it. My baby passed away in my lap in January and I still have entire days when I walk around with a lump in my throat.

30. I am so sorry that you lost your furbaby...but knowing he was with you
at the end is some comfort, if any can be found in this situation. He knew he was loved, and was comforted by being with you. I am sure that made this final journey peaceful for him. He is at peace now, though you are left suffering without him. Keep his memory close. He is actually buried where all good dogs are....in your heart.

34. I am so sorry! You've got me crying and I'm not a crier!
But I've been through this, as well. I know so well what this is like and it truly rips your heart out. I lost my beloved Barney in November of 2002, but he was, as well, the love of my life, and not a day goes by that I don't miss him. I don't have any good advice, since I'm also not good with this. When I lost my beloved cat, I went into a pretty dark place, but finally woke up when I noticed Barney was having trouble with the steps, and focused on getting him okay, first with chiropractic, then with acupuncture. If you have other pets, focus on them. That will help you and I know that they will appreciate the added attention. They must miss him, as well. I am just so sorry. I understand and let me know if you ever need to talk.

Rhiannon:hug:
