I'm adopting a 4 1/2 year old Jack Russell Terrier today named Rosie.
She'll be delivered by her owners about 2:30 this afternoon. I'm so anxious and excited. Rosie is a well behaved, friendly dog and good with children and other dogs...so they say..... I'll let you know how it goes.

I live alone and she'll be great company. My JRT died a few years ago and I miss him so much. I just hope Rosie will be as wonderful and well behaved as he was. I know JRT can sometimes be a hand full...I've got my fingers crossed Rosie will be an exception.

I also hope Rosie won't be too traumatized by being left here without her owners...poor dog...it must be so hard on her. :( I plan on giving her such a good home and lots of loving that she'll soon forget her past owners.

2. Congrats and good luck !
It usually takes adopted dogs a couple of weeks to get acclimated.

3. Wow! Thay's a long time to wait till things are normal again.
Owner just called and they won't be here till 4:00. Maine traffic was awful. Waiting on pins and needles and am trying to think positive. It's so easy to worry about a JRT.

4. After you've gotten over the period of adjustment, be sure to give
her some jobs to do. I have a JRT mix and her jobs are: going to the mailbox with me, going to the clothesline with me, rolling the garbage can to the street (I live about 500 feet from the street). The operative word seems to be "GO."

Lady was my Dad's dog. I moved here 7 yrs. ago to take care of Dad, bringing my 2 adult cats with me. There was a lengthy period of adjustment, because Lady had always been a chaser cats, rabbits, squirrels, etc. In the past few years, my Dad died, 1 of my cats died, and I rescued 2 other cats. Now, Lady looks out for the cats and barks whenever ANYTHING threatens our security. I've never had a dog before and am still learning their "language" but we're operating as a family unit/pack now. Whenever I leave the house, I always say, "Lady, you're in charge."

6. Thank you for adopting Rosie. Imagine she will settle in
soon. Since you've already had a JRT you know their
general personalities. Hope the former owners bring her
blanket, bed, toys and other familiar items. And find out
what food she has been used to eating, etc. Good luck...z

I've forgotten how to do it. Read the directions which said to copy url from properties. Couldn't find the url. So I can't show you what a cutie she is. Sorry!
