Have a thought for the pets in Japan tonight

You don't have to look if you don't want to, but about midway down the page here:

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/42478877/ns/world_news-asia-pacific/

is a picture of dogs wandering around, left behind after the evacuation from Minami Soma, Japan.
They are looking at the photographer, maybe the only person they have seen in days.

I remember reading a survival sort-of novel where the author talked about
the aftermath of a big bomb, how one of the threats would be wild dogs,
and how they could shoot them.

I have come to realize, after seeing disaster after disaster, how wrong he was.
Instead they come to you looking for food, water, maybe even a little attention.
Confused perhaps, but certainly not a threat.

I won't forget this one for a while. Things can get bad here, but there are places where they are worse.

1. They look like Border Collies, sorta.

I think your assessment of them is correct.
