Need help with a Breed guess on my foster dog (photos)
This sweet little guy is a bit of a mystery mix, and I thought I would mine the collective wisdom of DU pets to see if anyone has any guesses.

Age: 2.5 years
weight: 27 lbs

He has a purple tongue, with black patches all through his mouth.
He has very soft, thick sable coat with a few small white spots scattered.
He squeaks and grunts rather than barks.
He also tries to use both paws to handle food (although one leg is malformed).

Perhaps Schipperke?

I did some research on purple tongued dogs, and think I may see Basenji or even this asian breed in him: http://dogbreeds.bulldoginformation.com/telomian.html

Any ideas??

1. Part Chow by the profile. And then something small added.
You can get a Vet to do a test and they will send it out for DNA. What comes back only lists by priority of which Breed seems dominant. It has less accuracy lower on the list but will definitely give you the main Breeds.

3. Part Corgi?
I think his face and ears look like a Corgi. That breed would also account for the short legs.

4. That is what I was thinking. Chow and Corgi. Needs DNA test.

5. Definitely chow mix

Only Chows have the purple tongues, and from the side view there's obviously Chow in him (used to own a Chow Chow).

Other half? Hard to say...

But if you have to describe him, I'd call him a Chow mix.

7. My frist reaction is Chow/Basenji mix. Basenji is similar to the Asian breed you mentioned.

8. Thank you all!
We're going with Chow/Corgi mix on his listing. My 5 year old calls him a Chowgi!

We're having his 'Nemo" leg looked at by an orthopedist to determine if he would be more comfortable and mobile without it.
