Crap. I brought Kennel cough home with my rescue dog.
My rescue got over it in about three days and it wasn't that bad, but she gave it to my other Lab and she's hacking like a smoker.

I'm headed out tomorrow for some cough medicine my vet recommended but in the mean time she's breaking my heart. She's still frisky and has a great appetite, just that nasty dry cough.

*sigh* My poor baby.

1. Sorry to hear that this happened
I hope your baby will feel better very quickly.

And thank you so much for giving a home to a rescue. I know this is an inconvenient occurrence for your first kiddo, but I sincerely appreciate you for saving the life of a rescue.

I hope that BOTH kiddos will be well and wonderful very soon.

2. They'll be OK. It's common in dogs who have been kennels
I get kennel cough dogs in all the time, unfortunately. It is terrible to listen to them, but it is like a cold. Now, if they start blowing yellow snot, then they have picked up a secondary infection and need antibiotics. Sorry to be graphic.

3. She still has the cough,
Luckily, she seems as active as ever, but damn I cringe every time I hear her.

Robitussin does seem to help with the cough though. She doesn't care for the liquid but if I let a teaspoon soak into a slice of bread, she'll gobble it down.
